THis show is really good.

I rented the first two DVDs and I am quite impressed w/ the realism of the show. My only complaint is the beautiful pink haired girl that somehow activates the powers of the ship.

I think that mystical girls who unlock powers, while generally appreciated by all, have no place in a show like this. But then again, there was one in Now and Then Here and THere, and that added to show.

I guess Ill see how it all turns out.

The girl you're referring to is crucial to the show, as her history will explain why the crew of the Ryvius is being attacked. Keep in mind that the Earth Government are the ones sending ships after them, and they think the Ryvius was hijacked by terrorists. They don't know that only kids and teens are aboard, otherwise it would be a rescue operation. A certain someone within the organization is bluffing to his superiors about who is on the Ryvius, and that girl is the key to why he is doing that.

Also, when you find out what she is, and the fact that it pertains to the reason why the ships were made in the first place (relates to the Gedult Phenomenon), you'll see that she is once again key to the show. She also doesn't have mystical powers...she's a concept that represents the Ryvius itself.

The next DVD's only get better and more dramatic. You'll see character changes you never saw coming and role switches that really intensify things as the show progresses.

Humm.....I found the 1st 2 disks to be some what ordinary, but since robotech master paints a different picture, I might give disk 3 a look!!

I don't think you'll be disapointed as long as you're not expecting an action story, because Infinite Ryvius is a space drama, not an action series. There is an increase in action though, as the crew begins to use the mech that is stationed on the Ryvius to battle the other ships that are sent after it (they are actually rather enjoyable, though they are not the focus of the show). Through discs 3 and 4 what you will see is a basic "Lord of the Flies" scenario take place, but whats even more interesting is what happens in disc 5 and 6. You'd never guess (from the first three discs) who the main antagonist is towards the end (Hint: Its not Airs Blue).

Thanks for the info, as I said above, the 1st 2 dvds looked pretty ordinary & I wasn't going to get any more, but I've ordered disk 3 now!!

I quite like drama, though action is my 'thang', I tend to like just about any anime really & you paint a pretty good picture of Ryvius!! :)

Is the anime that different from the Manga, because I have the first 2 mangas and am interested in the show...

I haven't read the manga, but from the rumors that I heard it sounded like the Manga told the story from Aoi's point of view (Or to be more exact, it centered around Aoi more). The Anime centers more around Kouji.

Other than that I believe they would be about the same, but the anime came first so I don't know if the Manga decided to do anything differently.

I'll probably get the first DVD and see how different it is. If it isn't all that different I won't get the rest of the DVDs, yeah, that'll work! =]

Personally I'd be more interested in the Anime, seeing as how I'm somewhat familiar with how the story came about and how it was originally scripted (Newtype even had an article about the writer penned to write the story, and he details what the original plot for the first episode was, which was way different from how Ryvius turned out in the end). The Manga was sort of created in response to it, almost like Evangelion's Manga. But that's just me.

Was it? I never really thought about that. haha I'm stupid, don't mind me.

I remember it being in Newtype. That was preety cool. Thats what made me want to get the mangas.
