judging from the way i looked at the last episode of the series, i thought that there might be a second season of the series, but my friend told me that they were going to make a movie instead to further extend the full metal alchemist story.
So, what i would like to know is if anyone else heard this and if they have
some info it would be greatly appriciated

As far as I know there will not be a second series. The movie is supposedly going to tie everything up. The movie is set 2 years after the final episode. It will be released in Japanese theaters this summer so is won't be available outside of Japan (legally) for a while after that.

I can't wait for it though. I am going to buy it as soon as I can buy it off the anime blackmar- find it with subtitles.

According to this page:

The movie should be out 2005-07-23. Being a movie I don't know if that means a release on TV or in the theatres. If it's the former I'd add on a month before it gets subtitled and released. If it's the latter then I'm not sure how long it will take.

I certainly like it. It's not really like anything else I've seen. Maybe a hint of Slayers but that's about the closest I can think of. While it has a fair bit of humour, it does get fairly dark in places with characters getting killed or injured.

I haven't seen the movie yet, so it's safe to say that I will definatley be ordering the Complete Edition since it has english subtitles. How nice of them to include english subtitles!!! :D

Well, I'll be happy - provided I can work out how to order it via www.amazon.co.jp
*Edit*
On second thought - maybe not. That's around $100 Australian which is a bit much for an anime movie. Especially since the "extras" are likely to be all in Japanese as well.

Well, I have to say, the version circulating on the internet certainly was more or less sufficient for tying up the end, though it still leaves us with questions..

You mean the shaky cam version? I downloaded that and gave up after a few minutes. It looked terrible. I think I will get the version from Japan.
