Wow, I can't believe this forum is still here... it's dead. Well let me just post my review of it because I really enjoyed this anime (it's one of my top 5 favs).

My Synoposis: Gungrave is about the hardships of a man named Brandon Heat. A man once part of a local gang. He gets involved with the syndicates, and makes more than few people very angry.

My Review: Gungrave is quite depressing. It first starts off in the present. At first viewing this will leave you confused, but don't give up on Gungrave! The second episode flashes back, and from there the anime really begins. Brandon and his "comrade" Harry experience the rules of life together. They learn about death, and what it is like to take a life.

Brandon is in love with a girl named Maria. After her "father" runs into an unforunate incident Harry is given his chance to make it big time with the town's largest syndicate. What will become of Brandon and Harry... The first episode foreshadows their fate. It's extraordinarily engrossing.

This anime reminded me of Cowboy Bebop's Red Dragon Syndicate, and Spike and Vicious' dark past they shared together. If you like Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, or just plain shootouts, you'll certainly enjoy this great title, however, do realize that the last 1/3 of the series introduces a lot of sci-fi elements that may or may not appeal to you. The story never slows down though.
