I really love Wolf's Rain.
I love the story, the music, the characters, the setting, and the general atmosphere of this show.
However...Volume 4 of the US Region 1 Release (espisodes 15 - 18), is an absolute waste of money...bordering on fraud.
In other threads these episodes are referred to as "filler episodes." This is an inapplicable title, because atleast as far as I know, filer episodes apply to anime episodes that are diversions from the main story line, often added to pad a story that would otherwise not encompass 26 episodes (or whatever the length may be).
In most anime this is generally the "beach" episode, where the various anime girls take a break from saving the universe to model bathing suits at a beach, often to the delight/sexual angst of whatever guys are around. Sometimes, these episodes are good (I.e. the Hot Springs episode in Outlaw Star).
Episodes 15 - 18, don't qualify for the title of "filler episodes" because there is NO NEW ANIMATION OR EVENTS.
For the FOUR episodes, they merely take animation from early episodes and have each character comment on their thoughts of what occured.
While I always support character monologues, the manner in which it's done here is disgraceful.
I traded Volume 4 for another anime and wont be missing it....
For fans of the series in the US...AVOID VOLUME 4
