In an attempt to breathe life into the KK forum, I will talk about Volume 15 which came out from Tokyopop last week. :p Keep in mind that this post/thread has spoilers.

I also really enjoyed Volume 15. The Arima arc definitely has a different tone than the Miyazawa arc. It's a lot darker, and while both arcs deal with the characters growing, Arima definitely has a lot more demons that he has to come to terms with than Miyazawa does.

A lot of Volume 15 concerns the memories of Arima's past resurfacing in his mind, all triggered by the beating his mother gave him in Volume 14. As usual, Arima does not want to burden anyone with his problems and what he is facing, so he isolates himself from everyone except Asaba.

I find the relationship between Asaba and Arima interesting. In a sense, he confides a lot of things with Asaba that he wouldn't confide with Miyazawa, but I wouldn't say that their relationship is closer. I think Asaba is just an outlet for Arima, because he knows that Asaba won't "interfere" so to speak, so it's not like he's passing his burden on to someone else. Also, he knows that Asaba will accept him even knowing that he has this darker side.

My favorite part of the Volume is the chapter "His and Her Sonnet". The library scene had a lot of emotion. Miyazawa finally corners Arima and confronts him. Arima tries one last time to put up his defenses to hide his real self, but Miyazawa gets around them. Arima finally gives up and lets all his emotions fly. The feelings are high, and Arima channels that into a fit of passion. I love the panel where Miyazawa wakes up on the floor of the library and just hugs Arima's jacket.

Looks like Arima has finally shown his real self to Miyazawa, so she's an official player in his life now. I'm really looking forward to volume 16, but unfortunately I read some spoilers and have a general gist of what will happen. -_-
