last chance ...!

:)

Whoa'kay ...where to start? Well, I just finished watching the last episode and I don't know what to think. As unbelievably beautiful as it all played out a lot of things still don't make sense.

For one, what the hell happened to M-PU? They dedicated a whole episode so this new artificial intelligence program could be downloaded to Ed's PC, and you don't hear a thing about him (er ...it) for the rest of the series. I thought the whole concept of M-PU was really cool, so I wish he could have done something later on.

Another thing, after it's all over and Spike's star fades ...what happens to Jet and Faye? I mean, it's obvious that Faye was starting to have feelings for Spike. And it's also obvious that Faye and Jet aren't exactly a couple. But Faye has nothing left (except her memory and a really messed up Redtail), and the bebop is practically history.

All in all, it felt like a remarkable closing to Spike's "story". Unfortunately, we could of had almost the same ending if Spike and Vicious had killed each other at the end of episode 5 (Ballad of the Fallen Angels); Ed and Ein wouldn't be a part of the bebop crew, and you'd be clueless as to what's going to happen to Jet and Faye.

Well, I have about a million other things to rant about but I can't think of them at this second. I have to watch the episode a few more times then I'll be back ...

So what do you guys think? Agree? Disagree?

You're Going to Carry That Weight.

I think there probably should have been another episode or two to wrap things up better with Faye's character. I think Jet has always been a loner and I can see him going on with his life okay after the ending. He'll probably find a new crew somewhere and start all over. I enjoyed sessions 25 and 26 though and I thought the ending was amazing.

As for the Empute thing... well at the end of the session his consciousness was released onto the net not downloaded to Ed's PC. So, Empute is probably making friends with that guy from Brain Scratch or playing chess with Chessmaster X on the net.

Actually, the movie isn't supposed to be a continuation of the story. They're making it to be a seperate story that can be enjoyed by anyone even if they haven't watched the series. We still might learn a few new things about Spike and the gang but the story is set between sessions 22 and 23 so a lot of the stuff we know now will not have been known yet.

Having just recently seen the last few episodes myself (finally) its still fresh in my mind. It was a fitting end to the story, but I still dislike endings like that. I too wondered what was to become of the Bebop and its crew. Too many loose ends.

I kind of figured something like that would happen to Spike though. It had been building up to a final confrontation way back in session 5.

All in all, an excellent series. As with all series that I like when they come to an end, I wish for more, but its not going to happen I imagine.
