Who's doing the anime? It's not Gonzo this time, is it?

I believe that it is Gonzo. The animation looks the same from the last series only a little bit smoother and shinnier.

Well, I've seen the first episode of TSR, like the first serie, it's action packed and with humor as well, and not to mention that it's getting mysterious on the first episode.

A couple of groups have released episode one, I have hardly any knowledge about fansubbers so recommendations on which group I should follow?

Well, I don't know about you orochi X but I'm not too picky with fan-subs. I just usually download the first one that is available. If it happens to be two different versions, then I just pick the one with the least amount of MB to download. All I care about in the end is that it has english subtitles. It can be just a bit inaccurate, which is okay with me since I know this isn't a subsitute for the licensed product once it actually gets licensed. Sorry if this didn't help.

Just finished watching episode 1. Again, I'm glad that it has went back to it's roots. Watching this really sits well with me since I'm in the military right now. Looks like Sousuke is getting used to his Arm Slave pretty well. Looks like he's moving much faster than before, plus the fact he seems to have pretty good control of using the Lambda Driver. Another thing that I like is that it still hasn't lost it's sense of humor, which what I was kind of afraid of at first. Man, I definately can't wait for episode 2 as it looks like it's going to me more intense when the new characters arrive.

P.S. I wonder if the little "love triangle" between Tessa, Sagara, and Chidori will move any further. Will Sagara finally get some sense for himself....Probably not!!

Finished watching episode 2 today. The more I watch Sagara, the funnier he gets!!! The big part of this episode however was the introduction of the new characters, although we don't get any names from them. The first ones, the two girls, were very creepy, but they were also skillful as you get a chance to see them in action. Very quick and dead on precise movement which results in a total blood batch during the middle of the episode. I can't wait to see if Souske will end up fighting them or now. It should be very interesting.

The second character was pretty f-up in the head. That's the best way to describe him. You'll actually have to see him for yourself. But he provided the funniest line that I've heard in Full Metal Panic! so far at the very end of the episode. :)

The last character was Tessa's brother. It seems that he has some type of relationship with the two mysterious girls, but what it is remains to be seen however. Not exactly sure if he's friend or foe, as far as Mythrill is concerned, but it seems that he definately will play a key part throughout the series. Especially since he's Tessa's brother.

Oh, and it seems like someone was spying on Chidori, but again don't know whom it is. This whole darn episode is shrouded with mystery, but it doesn't disappoint as it has some action to follow with it.

At the rate this anime is going, if it sticks to this formula, were probably looking at one of the top 3 anime releases this year IMO.

Makes you who is the Sensei the two girls were refering to... btw, is it me, or they care less for "censorship" in this new season?

Hmm...now that you mentioned it, the violence level has been upped a notch. I wonder just how much more bloodier it can get.

I just read about this, is meant to be like a 2nd season ???

Well...if you look at Fumoffu as a second season then, no, this would be the third season. Fumoffu was somewhat a departure from the original series with its more funnier and upbeat approach in the Full Metal Panic! Universe. No story continuity whatsoever, but some people may consider it the second season since it naturally came after Full Metal Panic!

To make this short, The Second Raid is officially the second season of Full Metal Panic!

Just watched the third epside...

Things are getting interesting fast, and let's say that the assumption about the series being less to "censorship" was correct... I mean, those poor mithril infantry didn't see that coming, and goddamnit... slitting someone's throat like that, wasn't something I excpected... it's look like that the bad guys are worse than goulen, I mean, one is a nut case, and the two other are emotionaless killers... fun fun

No problem eva2000! :)

Yeah, looks like thing are getting more gruesome with each episode. I was wondering about something though. Back when Sagara was in the briefing room with Tessa, she just walked right past him. Looked like she was upset about something but I wasn't quite sure.

Well, now we now that the two female assassins are from China, I believe. Man.....they on some Noir type sh!t! You know, I've been thinking, what if their sense was......Gauln!!! Yeah right, but that would be a crazy twist though. Man, can't wait for the fourth episode.

Watched episode 4. I must that things are definately getting more tense with each episode, compared with the first season. The ainte has definately been up'd here. On to the spoilers:

I noticed that the crazed mad man (haven't aquired his name yet) was piloting Gauln's AS? Sagara said he was dead, yet the the guy is using Gauln's AS? This confirmed some of my suspicion that Gauln may be infact still alive....

Another scene I found interesting was the fight between Mao and one of killer twins (name escapes me at the moment :( ) The fight was definately brutual for Mao. It seems like the girl could predict exactly what Mao would do next. I tell you, she can't be human!!! Mao then went on to say, "So this is what despair is like...." I was like damn! :) Mao definately handled her the best way possible, but if reinforcements didn't arrive.....

That to me, was the highlight of this episode. One more thing, it looks like the enemy was Sosuke's AS.....but for what purpose. Whom would actually pilot it? In any case, I'm liking what I see. It looks like it's going to get even more violent from here on out.

It goes like this, the two girls are sociopaths, the crazy guy is a psychopath

Without a shred of a doubt, the 6th episode shows that TSR is by far better than the first season.

I mean, the sousuke-chidori relationship, and the end of the episode, finally you get to see something out of sousuke.
And besides that, you get to see more of what mithril is... this is getting more and more interesting.

Dang! I'm slacking!!! Haven't even watched the 5th episode yet! Can't wait to see episode 6. :)

Sorry that I've been so absent from this thread. I actually just got finished watching episodes 5, 6, and 7. Things are definately getting tense with each episode.

I must say that Sagara has dealt with alot of things here. I couldn't believe that it's only been half a year though. I really do feel bad for him. Having to leave Chidori and all. It's seems (to me) that he's carrying Mithrill on his back and he's only 17 years old. He hasn't had a chance to really live a normal life at all. Constantly being on guard 24/7. Breaking him away from Chidori seem to be straw that broke the camel's back so to speak. I'm sitting here watching the end of episode 6 and I was like "damn" out of all things to do to this guy, you had to take Chidori away from him, especially when he and Chidori was starting to develop their relationship. Then episode 7 came. Again I'm like, out of all the times to take him away from her. Now she really has no-one she can count own. Makes me wish that Sagara would've just ignored the orders and continue own. But, being in the military myself, I knew that he had to follow the orders given which made it a hard watch for me.

Also, I found a particular scene rather...sickening. In episode 5, where that crazy bastard was (what it looked like to me) jerking off to animals on tv! WTF!? Hopefully I mis-read that scene. I'm hoping here....

Another thing is that, I'm wondering whom the hell sensei is?! My money is on Gauln, since he's still alive after the first season of Full Metal Panic! Only he could teach those two crazy female killers how to kill like that. Man, wow. Another thing, I'm wondering whom is piloting the M-9 too. I'm thinking that it could be Leonard, but for what reason I'm not exactly sure. Maybe we will find out in episode 8.

With all the rambling and babbling I've just done, I believe by far that this is probably the best anime this season by far. Each episode definately leaves you wanting more. With the suspense, drama, and action taken to a whole new level. One more thing, I was up at animesuki and It lists this anime as going on to 13 episodes? If that's true looks like things are going to happen very quickly. Episode 8 can't come sooner enough!!

Aw, man. I want to see this so badly, but I can't download right now. I can't imagine that this hasn't been licensed yet, seeing as ADV's got the other two seasons.... but it probably will be another two years before this comes out on R1.

I just saw the 9th episode, I must say, that with every passing episode the serie on improves, I mean the serie beats the first season by much... the quality gap is huge.

I just watched the 13th and final episode. Was anybody else pissed off like I was? Why was it only 13 episodes long? It should have been 26 or at least 24 like the first series. Also, was anyone else disappointed with the "ending" to the Souske-Kaname relationship? And what the heck was Souske trying to say to Teressa in that final episode anyway? Argh!

Pissed Off?! Man, the last episode kicked ass! I'm glad that Kaname made it there in time to kick Souske's butt back into shape! :) Also, their relationship, by far isn't over yet. There's still more story to be told, which is in the Full Metal Panic Novels. This series just covers a little bit of it, so I'm pretty sure that that there will be another series soon, as it's very popular.

Ask for what Souske was trying to tell Teressa, he was basically telling her that he'll be by her side and protect her, but as a FRIEND, although those words didn't come out. She unfournately took as that she may have a chance, but in reality she doesn't. I'm convinced after watching this last episode that Souske and Kaname are made for each other. Heck he left Mythrill because of her, so it's no real suprise to me that they will end up together.

Overall, I definately enjoyed the series. There were a few twists and turns, but it never strayed too far away, which made this series enjoyable. I say the only real "disappointment" is the fact there is still alot of story to be told. I feel confident though that it'll all get fleshed out. But when, I'm not sure.

Thanks for clearing that up. For some reason I thought it was the end of Full Metal Panic altogether, that's why I was mad at the end, with the relationship stuff not being resolved. I rather enjoyed the episode, it was quite well done for the most part. I'm glad to hear there is much more to the story and that it is popular in Japan, so we can all have more FMP to look forward to in the future.

Nearly half a year overdue, but I finally watched this sequel.

Btw.

I should shoot myself for putting it off.

This is one of the best series' I've seen in a while. I can't believe how good it turned out. I had as many gripes about the original as anyone else, but this one blew me away. Amazing. Truly amazing. This is the only series where I'd rank only one part of it in my top fave animes. The first season was so-so. The side story of Fumoffu! was just purely comedic entertainment. This one was just that damn good.

Thorough story with the same mix of characters I so love (did I mention Kaname is my fave anime chick? I think I did, or did I? Well, I did now. Plus, it helps that her VA, Yukino Satsuki, is one of my faves as well). Intense, well animated action (with and w/o mechs), great comedy spliced with serious story, done MUCH better then the original, and great drama to boot... way more then I expected.

----, I can't stop praising it. It's been 4+ years since I've felt this way after watching something. In the past, only a handful have done it. Cowboy Bebop, Serial Experiments Lain, and Kimi ga Nozomu Eien are all I can think of atm.

Though Kaname and Sousuke's relationship is unfinished, the dramatic turnarounds brought about by their separation was intense. It's more obvious during the time they were apart, then the moments they were together (when Kaname was cutting Sousuke's hair, or the last scene in the anime), that they truly needed each other. It's like a drug. You don't know you need it, cuz you were prefectly fine w/o it, but once you use it, you can't live without it.

Now we need a Fumoffu! 2. We got to see alot of the fun antics w/o all the serious story in Fumoffu!, but now, since Kaname and Sousuke's relationship has stepped up a few notches, it'd be great to see another side story made. Meh, I'm daydreaming, but I must. I love Kaname too much.

Plus, that big bad crazy bad guy, who's name eludes me atm even though I *just* finished watching it, was the baddest, craziest bad guy I've seen in a while. Plus, he was funny. It's rare to say a bad guy is truly evil, yet he makes you laugh.

Lastly, martial arts with mechs. That has GOT to happen more often in anime.

Ahhh, so much I wanna talk about, but it's my own fault for going on an anime break and bypassing this one. Now I have to spill it all in one post... for now at least.

EDIT: Oh, a comment about the length. I'm not sure how much story was left out from the original source (novels right? I forget), but given what they had to use for this sequel, it was perfect. Nothing felt rushed, nor did anything feel dragged out. More episodes would've just limited the dramatic impacts, and might've even caused it to suffer the same curse as the original. If anything, one or two more eps would've been nice to extend some of the battle scenes. The action was good but fell just a slight be short.
