What happened to Macross 2 through 6? It was Macross, Macross Plus, and then straight to Macross 7...right?

Don't Forget Macross Zero!! Also, there was Macross II: The Movie. Other than that, I'm not so sure about 3 through 6.

Ok Macross 7 is actually the name of the entire fleet in the series. The full name if memory serves me correctly is Macross colinization fleet 7. The fleet is basicly centered around the main colony ship which is divided into 2 sections. The main section is City 7, whose mayor is Millia Jenus, and the other section is the detachable military section Battle 7 whis is commanded by Maximilian Jenus. (yes it is the same Max and Millia from the original Macross series for those who don't know) Battle 7 can also transform into the Macross Cannon, which looks like a huge Battaloid with a huge beam cannon rifle. The series takes place approximately 35 years after the original Macross saga.

Yup, Macross 7 is named after the 7th Macross colinization fleet - iirc the first was the one with the original Macross (which left earth and contact was lost) after the events of the TV series (was it in Macross 2012 that it left?)

You do actually see at least one other Macross colony fleet in M7, and I beleive they reference several of the others at various times.

I really wish that M7 would get a western release as it's a damn shame that due to legal wrangles much of the Macross universe is unlikely to ever get an official release in the English speaking world.

I do recall Macross 5 being mentioned as having ties with the 7th fleet. Different from 7's white uniforms, they wore olive green. But I think they were destroyed after trying to settle in some planet's ocean or something. I remember because the 7th fleet eventually found them, wreckage, bodies, and all.

Well another problem is they would have to also redo all the songs if a dub was done. American Fire wasn't as good as the original Fire Bomber songs. The rearrangements sort of lost some of the punch and the guy singing the Basra part didn't have the energy of the original singer.
