I just finished watching the first OVA. My thoughts right now are: Is this what Hellsing truly supposed to be? Was this the creators original intent? Damn, I haven't seen this much bloodshed since Berserk! Everthing moved so quickly. The animation took on a more sinister and darker tone than the TV series ever did with this first OVA. What got me excited was the fight between Anderson and Alucard. I couldn't figure out whom was the real damn monster!! No fear in their eyes. Like ravenous beasts. Just truly awsome...I haven't read the manga at all, but after watching this, I might have to. I mean everyone looked so sinister and dark and evil. Truly, there was no light, no goodness, just pure darkness and blood.

What I'm trying to say is, you guys need to watch this...NOW!!!

I just watched it and I spent all fifty minutes bouncing and cooing like a delighted three-year-old. It's good, brainless, blood-spattered fun.

The Alucard vs. Anderson fight was the most beautiful thing I have ever witnessed. I could never get enough of their fights in the manga, and watching it animated made me nearly weep with joy. Especially with Anderson's constant, unblinking Engrish. Amen indeed.

I've been putting this off for a bit, couldn't find time due to uni starting up again but finally had the time to sit through the first OVA. Been a long time since I watched any new anime, ohh this was splendid indeed. Having not seen the original TV series this was something new to me.

Alucard is spiffy, cept for his hat ... makes me smirk a bit, reminds me of Disney's Darkwing Duck hah. Female character designs are pretty eh, esecially the one who was running away from the house ... I swore I thought that was a man with long hair and a beanie.

As mentioned Anderson versus Alucard was good bloody fun indeed!

My gripe with this, the dream sequence, felt out of place.

Looking forward to the next OVA. When is that slated to be released?

I'm a big fan of the manga series & a not so big a fan of the original anime series (I thought it sucked by comparison) so I was rather intrigued by the announcement of a second anime series, based more closely on the manga series..,

I watched the first Japanese DVD of the OAV in raw Japanese the other day & I have to say that it's well mental! :)
Much more action-packed & the story flowed at a much quicker pace when compared to the original anime series.., I like the chara designs & the use of CG has been well implemented.., the whole animation is more stylised & the overall atmosphere of the show seems more foreboding & ominous, though I did like the use of Seras during the moments of light relief.., all-in-all, I liked what I saw & I can't wait for the rest of the series.., :D

My only question is.., will they be animating the Crossfire portion of the manga?

If not, atleast those two characters will appear later in Hellsing Ultimate, if it continues down the same path as the manga

Sorry to throw this thread off topic but wow.......I just finished reading Vol. 1-8 of Hellsing. I didn't realize what I was truly missing. Jesus christ! There's literally bloodshed on every frecking page! Is this what we have to look forward to from the OVA? Complete and total chaos? Holy sh..

Just saw the first episode and I have to say I'm impressed, I've not had the fortune of reading the manga books but after seeing this I plan to change that. :)
Its different yet similar to the other anime series I have. Yet this seems so much better, and Victoria seems to get into her role as a vampire better in this (weel first impressions seeing as I've only saw one episode) and its good to see the Paladin Alexandar Anderson is still the zealous sword wielding priest that I enjoyed from the other anime :D

Just some minor news here. The second OVA won't be released till August 4...I thought it would be April, but still I can't wait as I thoroughly enjoyed the first one! :)

August ... ugh that's quite a while away. What a wait, but I do hope they keep up with the great animation and action as they did with the first.

I REALLY miss the music though. The music in the OVA is kind of blah in comparison.

Mmm .. I finally got Hellsing: Raid, and the music is far better than that of Hellsing ultimate as when I dled and watched some from 'youtube' quite weak, but I suppose its because the new Hellsing needs a darker overtone while the older origonal has more of a layed back strummin' beat to it.

Hark Valentine Brothers in the trailer for the second OVA! Those episodes with the Valentine brothers in the series were my absolute favourite and I definitely can't wait to see it done "better", plus who didn't like seeing Walter fight!

Anyone else watch the second OVA yet?

Valentine brothers OVA style was just licking sweet. Nice amount of oozing blood and flying limbs here. Very awesome indeed especially with Alucard releasing his form. However why another silly chibi Seras scene? Just feels so out of place.

Millenium? I assume someone from the manga? So no Incognito then?

The chibi Seras scenes are probably a homage to the original manga source as there are quite a few comedic skits involving Seras in that too (usually featuring the spirit of her Harkonnen cannon).
As for Millenium, yes, those are the villains from the manga, a far more fitting adversary to Hellsing than Incognito ever was IMO.

Just finished watching the II OVA....Out freaking standing!! I loved every minute of it. Especially when Alucard tore into Luke! Total Bloodbaths and chaos. The way Helsing was meant to be seen! I also like the fact that it's staying faithful to the manga. Makes this all the more interesting. I definately can't wait for the next OVA!

Kohta Hirano is, as he said, suppervising the production of Hellsing Ultimate so theres nothing to worry about in terms of content
