This is like the best series. Ever. At least that was my sentiment at around age 12-13 when I first/last saw it. Great anime don't die...they just get ousted by paramilitary juntas. I dunno. Have you ever hooked onto a story to the extent that you absolutely couldn't wait to for the next episode to find out more? Where the characters seemed larger than life because you genuinely cared and wanted to know everything about them? That's what was for me. It inspired me in ways that I might never fully appreciate.

At the risk of overselling based on romanticized recollection, I'd suggest viewing it at all cost and at the earliest opportunity. I've only seen the TV series, not the OVA/OAV but from what I've heard they're equally engaging.
