Even though it's a kids show, One Piece would be right up there as one of the more enjoyable Anime's that I have seen. And that is only by me seeing it in the Morning Kiddies Slot. I would love to see it uncut and in English, but I think that it may not happen. Does anything think that it will ever be dubbed into English while being uncut or should I just support Terrorism and buy a dodgy version of One Piece?

Well wasn't Dragon Ball Z eventually released uncut on DVD (or am I just imagining things here), so if One Piece does gain as much popularity as DBZ I could see an uncut being released. But it will be a good while though.

IMO, I don't think that One Piece will ever get an Uncut English release. Just isn't popular enough right now in the states to warrant one unlike Naruto which got an uncut release right from the jump.

i dont know what this censoring is all about anyway!

i think that there are some series for kids outside that are much more frightening than some things that they cut out in one piece.

ahhhh, the teletubbies are coming n they want me!!!!!!!!!!!

Censoring should die. It's because shounen jump wants to a more child-friendly audience... bleah....

When one piece was so big when it came out and when the episodes went onto 300 it just died ... makes u think that short series are the best when actually it ain't ... but still this forum supposed to be filled with post and stuff since this series caters to all ages + it's a very good series ... the last I watched of it was ep 200 and something ...

I watch the movie the other day and it got me re-interested in One Piece again. The only problem is I asked a friend who reads the Manga and she said that Luffy still hasn't found the Treasure. Is this series ever going to end? Are they still making the Anime in Japan?

It's been a while since you posted this so you may have found your answer already, but in case you haven't...

No, it will never end. Well, and this will sound morbid, it will end when Oda Eiichiro dies. It's too damn popular and too high of a money-maker to end. FYI, that is all conjecture.

The manga is still going therefore the anime is still going.

One Piece is still an awesome series and the only super long-running series that I currently follow (the manga). The anime I catch on occasion when there's a story arc that was pimp in the manga and I have to watch it animated.

Shounen action series all follow the same pattern. It's about boy "A" trying to reach some uber goal but most of the stories have very little to do with said goal. This goal will never be reached cuz that means the series will end and if you refer to what was said earlier, a popular series can't end so boy "A" will never reach the aforementioned goal.

Even when these long-running series' end, often times boy "A" still doesn't reach his goal. The series simply ends w/o a real conclusion. Regarding anime, it usually means it was at the end of it's popularity, or something simliar, and is canceled but the manga is still continuing.

For manga, and this is my guess, the mangaka was a lazy bastid who had no idea how to end the series. Or maybe they leave it open on purpose to "keep people thinking" but I say it's more that they have the possibly of milking it some more in the future. And also that the mangaka was a lazy bastid.

(This next block may contain spoilers for other shounen series)
Hikaru no Go, Prince of Tennis, Shaman King, and Hunter X Hunter are a few that come to mind that followed the above formula and ended kinda stale. For the first three, both the anime and manga ended w/o a "true" conclusion. HxH manga is still going but off and on (in and out of hiatus)... ah but I suppose the anime ending for HxH wasn't that stale... ahhhh, I should refrain from saying anything more, hahaha.

Inuyasha is a great example of milking a series.

Back to One Piece, it's still pimp. Luffy is still pimp. If you want to hop onto a pimp story arc, check out the CP9 arc (after Water 7). Though, it may not make as much sense w/o watching the whole of Water 7... or check out the Sabaody Archipelago arc. That one was insane and has a crazy ending to the arc.

i have to say that oda's mind is really twisted. the series looks so simple n when u think that u have a clue whats coming next, it makes a turn n u find it to be in a totally different direction.
i am curious to see what happens after this arc, since the foundations of the one piece world r shaking just now.
whitebeard, ace, the shichibukai, luffy, the 3 admirals and many more r involved.

/agree

On some level, and kinda cuz it's been done before, creator's will throw in new/random elements to shake up a series. I mean, no one wants a stale series, right? *cough*Inuyasha*cough*

I may be somewhat biased in this next statement, but I'd like to believe Oda is doing this because he really does have a clue (albiet, possibly "twisted" as you say) and all this will come together in one sweeping BIG BANG... but of course, many things will no longer be the same.

One of the great things about this series, opposed to other shounen action series' I've read, is that often times, I honestly cannot predict how things will pan out. Sure, I can use a blanket statement like "Luffy will kick ass and he and his crew will get buffer" but that's barely touching the surface of it.

Ehhh, though, again, I may be biased. It's obvious I love this series.
