First off, in the English dub they called him Arucard in the first 5 or 6 episodes. Starting in episodes 7 and 8, they are calling him Alucard. The credits and subtitles still say Arucard.

Early on, Seras is warned not to go out in the daytime. She is given a special bed which is really a coffin. Now it seems she does go out when it is still light.

Can anyone explain this?

PLEASE POST NO SPOILERS! I AM ONLY UP TO EPISODE 8!

I can't really, but perhaps it's because she's grown stronger now. Or maybe it was too much effort to keep the scenes dark all the time.

Well, Arucard/Alucard, or whatever they end up calling him, is stronger than Seras and he never goes out during the day. And its not like the scenes with Seras take place at night, but are drawn as if they were during the day. She does take part in that attack on that castle which they mention is a daytime attack.

I'm watching the final episode this afternoon. (I'm snowed in.)

Didn't Seras look a lot paler and white when she was trekking out in the day time? I'm just going on a whim here but maybe she's wearing some highly protective sun screen hah.

Not that I noticed.

Seras isn't a complete vampire.

In regards to his name, just spell "Dracula" backwards. There is no way IMO that you can think his name is really Arucard. that is simply how some subbers wrote it and so now you get these die hard fans that can't see reason.
Granted, I prefer Arucard and believed in it until the obvious naming reason was brought up. I guess because of the Japanese script there is probably no "lu" only "ru" in katakana so "Arucard" may pass on a technicality. I'm confident however that if they had access to english letters, they'd have written Alucard.

Seras isn't her own vampire, but subordinate to Alucard. In one episode, he tells her to drink his blood so that she may be independent, but she refuses. Elsewhere, she is refered to as being technically dead, and others treat her as a vampire no different than Alucard.

Maybe the OVA or magna answers this.

The light doesn't seem to effect the vampires in this context, but anyway as for Alucard as written in the manga(english translation); "Besides for me, sunlight isn't some great enemy. I just hate it."
