Opening scenes

Just finishing 2nd Gig and had a question - in the US the opening scenes for SAC involve tachikomas battling a tank walking down steps until the Major lands on top of it, pulls her gun and starts firing. Similarly, 2nd Gig shows a scene where tachikomas are battling a GSDA armored suit on a highway, which the Major (again) seems to land on.

Neither of these scenes was anywhere in the anime. Were these just scenes created for the intros or did I miss something?

Were they from the 1st series? Without watching it to see what you are talking about, I'm unsure. Maybe you are right? They might have added the scenes for the intro.

Most likely since most OPenings have scenes just for the Openings. I never seen GiTS TV series, but I'm betting it's the think tank they're fighting.

First was tank fighting Tachikomatas on steps. Major dives down onto tank, pulls out her gun and puts several rounds into the tank.

Next was one of those army supersuits - Tachikomata speeding backwards on the highway fire rockets at it but at the last second it leaps out of the way. Then the Major does her sig move and falls onto it.

Thought they were both pretty cool and wanted to see story around them, but alas they're just eye candy.
