So has this new series been a major let down to anyone else so far? It's just dragging on so bad this time around. Just when you think you are getting into some action they cut away and you have to listen to people talk for twenty minutes. I mean this fight with Sasori and Deidara is probably going to last another 15 episodes at the rate they are going. I think Naruto himself is most disappointing to me. He trains with Jiraiya for almost three years and the only new technique i've seen is the upgraded Rasengan.( His overall fighting has improved, but come on.) Naruto trying to fight Deidara is a complete joke right now. All he has done is get really mad, scream a lot, then fly at Deidara miss him and smash into the side of a cliff. Real Sweet action  . Don't get me wrong i'm a fan of the show, but i'm not impressed at all right now.
Well, the show, due to the scope of the story (as with the first story arc) is starting off slow ... I think the big problem here is not the present pace, but the obscene number of filler episodes needed to buy time for the manga to generate enough followup material. I wouldn't mind the pace so much if it started reasonably soon after the first storyline ... but as you know "more than a few filler episodes were used ...
I am hoping that once the story gets moving, the action will progressively build to a satisfactory climax (just as the first arc did).
... but only time will tell ... and unfortunately, the story progression will be in real time at best.

It's about the same as the first series. They want to drag things out so that they don't catch up to the manga any time soon.
In retrospect, I think it would be more satisfying if say, the producers work off of a 6 month cycle whereby they take the accumulated new manga and convert it into the anime format ... then repeat the cycle again. This way, there would (or should) be no problems with the pacing of the story and no need to "invent material" for the show ... and during the between periods, specials could be made to elaborate on obscure points or to reinforce the existing storyline with a bit more elaboration or information ... this could have two beneficial effects ... one is to help maintain the linkage between 6 month cycles and to provide an opportunity to impart overly expository story related elements (that could interfere with or slowdown the dynamic pace of the accelerating storyline.
I agree and I wish anime producers thought along the same lines, It's one of my biggest pet peeves about anime, being how they produce it.
I'll rather get half a Code Geass tv series, have a six month brake (sup Darker Than Black) and than get the final half instead of watching a rushed production full of stock footage and fillers like Gundam SEED Destiny.
Also if they implemented the 6 month and brake thing we might not have got the disaster of a final arc that was in Rurouni Kenshin. Really pissed that the Revenge arc wasn't animated due to loss of ratings from crappy filler eps.

aghh ... I feel your pain on the RK issue ... to me, that was one of the bigger sins in anime manglement from the Manga. To think of what might have been if the proven story was adhered to for the following story arcs.
Oh well, we can only hope that history does not repeat itself too much.
