Worst anime music...

Seeing as there's so many favourite threads here I thought I'd post the question of the worst anime music. Personally, I don't like the American music for DragonBall Z and Escaflowne and I'm also not very fond of some of the music in Nadesico even though it's one of my favourite anime series. Also, the opening theme for Beserk would be okay if it wasn't sung by people who don't speak english very well.

The American versions of just about everything suck, but especiallt the crappy ass version of Moonlight Densetsu, and the theme song from the old Gigantor show. They took some cute songs and made them total ----.

A song I hate would have to be Forevermore from Tenchi Forever. It's not even really sung by Ryoko! So, the Japanese version is ok, but the english... im not gonna go there.

I agree with everyone who has mentioned the Cardcraptors opening song. Nothing about that Americanized piece of garbage can even vaguely compare to Card Captor Sakura.

Those stupid Americans just can't take anime seriously and won't give them the love and respect they deserve!

The worst anime music are the ones that have been translated into english.., why not just leave it in Japanese?!!

And as for Japanese opening themes, I think the theme for Iria the Animation sucks big time...., it just sounds awful..., :B:

Come on, you guys are only criticizing american versions of anime songs. I think the guy who started this post wanted to know what anime soundtrack you don't like.
Although I like Tenchi Muyo, the vocal tracks are horrible. The characters have horrible voices. The BGMs from the second movie are very cheap, too...

Most of the DBZ songs, yes in japanese...my ears aren't really accostumed to japanese male singers. About, every song is sung by a male and too me it's sounds horrible especially Head Cha La.

u should try okiayu ryoutarou and seki toshihiko, those 2 have amazing voices and one of my personal favorite

I don't see what's wrong with all male singers. I don't see what's wrong with Kageyama Hironobu. Besides, there were some songs with both male and female singers. The first ending theme was not done by a male singer and the ending theme to Shin Tenchi is much worse than anything from Dragonball Z.

Dragonball Z has a very bad score. Too much ****ing brass and repeating the same exact tunes waaay too much. I mean, some's ok, but they use almost the exact same music for many different types of scenes. And I'm talking about hte Japanese one with too much saxaphone or something. We Gotta Power and CHalla Head Chala is also annoying and BAD.

Love Hina opening theme is just annoying. That techno thing at the beginning is annoying as hell and they make Megumi Hayashibara (voice of Yui, Rei, Pen Pen, aunt Haruka, and various other main characters for other animes) sing kinda squeekily, which is horrible. The version that they sang in the episode with the festival is much much better.

All of the DB, DBZ and Sailor Moon (with the exception of a song or two from SM) are horrible. I can't stand it and I find all of the music from those shows, which the exception of one or two like I said in parentheses, are awful. :vomit: But oh well- thats just my opinion

I mean my god the song was bad enough in jappanese....

Fly me to the moon was pretty bad,.....
but Cruel Angel's thesis was worse.....

and Tell me why,... the Berserk opening song was a good song in my oppinion even if they are singing in engrish.....
my gripe with it however is it didnt fit the anime at all,....
let anyone listen to that song without telling about the series before hand and they will tell you the shows going to be a campy love story of some sort,.... not the kick ass blood soaked psychological thriller it realy is...

That's not true. I adore DEEN and X-Japan is not bad either.

Anyways, like mention above. English versions just sucks beyond anything. If they're gonna get someone to change it, at least get some who can sing for goodness sakes. I'm not even gonna go to dubbings. There are a few that I can take but other than that, I can't stand. Rarely there are jap songs I don't like but I'd have to agree on 'Fly Me to the Moon'.

It ain't for everybody. And not all J-rock is visual kei or "glam-rock". The Yellow Monkey did a song for RuroKen (correct me if i'm wrong) and they're not visual. The Pillows are rock and they're not visual (far from it.. hell I wouldn't even call their earlier stuff rock).

While I didn't hate it as vehemently as some do other songs, I didn't care for the opening theme of Ruronni Kenshin (English or Japanese) either.

The Berserk opening I'm still undecided on. The music is ok, but the Engrish makes me cringe. I think it would have been better if they sang it in Japanese. Actually, the first time I heard it, I wasn't sure just what language they were singing. :p

Actually, it seems like a lot of anime does that. Most 'o their opening songs have a "love" related lyrics. I can't think of a vocal opening theme that doesn't at the moment...can anyone think of one?

Well, I'll have to agree with everyone here, I don't like Cha la head cha la. Everyone's complaining to the French opening to DBZ, I haven't heard it, but I'm pretty sure the German one's just as bad. It makes it sound like My Little Pony, or something sweet like that.

I also don't like Fly me to the Moon, at least some versions. I love Megumi Hayasibara, but I really don't like how she sings that song, as has been mentioned before, too squeaky.

The edning theme and Legato's theme from Trigun also irritate me, but I love all other Trigun songs, so I guess it evens out.

Ahhh yes, and lastly, any anime song that sounds like cheap midi music!

This is a bit offtopic, but I am getting the impression that many of you think that "fly me to the moon" was originally produced for NGE. This is not the case, the ending theme(s) are just different interpretations of a song originally written by Bart Howard and first recorded in 1963 in NYC. And unlike many, i actually like the song, especially the bossanova influenced version ;) .

As for the anime music I truely dislike, well, one of the newer series named hack//sing has some stuff in there that truely annoys me. To add to the general annoyence factor of the music , its so loud at times that you have trouble hearing the dialog between the characters. Stangely, the music was written by Yuki Kajiura, the same composer who made the soundtrack for Noir, with which I was very pleased with

I think one of us needs to make a contact with whoever makes the english anime theme songs, and tell them to either 1.keep it the same 2. stop putting corny lyrics into their damn songs!! "A quest for all time, to bring the power hoooome!" what does that have to do with CCS? "Fighting evil by the daylight,winning love by the moonlight!" @_@; eh..that's just confusing..when do they ever win love by the moonlight?!?!?

The Lain ending theme-terrible completely horrible
The Trigun ending theme- I only like the first sentence..for some odd reason..I just hate the rest of it

and I used to dislike the ending theme to Cowboy Bebop, but The Real Fooolk Blues....is bearible in small doses. Maybe it's just weird hearing a japanese guy sing blues..

I thought the music in DNA^2 really sucked. It's all a bunch of cheezy synth crap. I really liked the opening theme by L'arc En Ciel though.
