This is anime...blue hair and red eyes are normal in anime. And if anyone did question it, what would they say about Misato's purple hair?

well, at least misato's hair resembles black hair. i should have said before that everyone else's hair resembles a natural hair colour, even Kaoru - and he was an angel. oh - and same with the eyes.

Rei is a very mysterious character, and the weird color of her hair and eyes are what they are just to add more strangeness to her. Also, these two colors get along very well, I wonder what color was chosen first, the hair or the eyes, but having chosen one, finding a "real" color to match it could have been just impossible. Just give it a try under photoshop, you'll see...

Because she would look boring with blond hair/brown eyes, or whatever....could you imagine rei with a normal complection?? I suppose it adds to her mistique too

And Rei is supposed to be albine,so that's why she has red eyes,light blue hair and pale skin.

Well Rei has red eyes supposedly because she's part angel (Kaoru also has red eyes) but as for the blue hair.....it's just an anime thing i guess

Well, the Red eyes could be a part of the Angel thing as well. Blue hair would probably be more normal than Red eyes, anyway. :D

This is probably a dumb idea that I have, but I think the colors of their hair(Asuka, Shinji and Rei). I've been watching the series and had just finished it and I notice the colors used on the Evas and thought I might be cool if the creator used a color that represent its eva's pilot, but I thought hair would proabably be better.

This is based on what some cultures associate the colors with some may vary.

Can't really tell what kind of blue(hair) Rei has. Here is what people usually associate blue with.
If someone would found out about light blue please, that would be cool.

Blue hair is just an anime thing. In most anime series it's always the cool/mysterious character that has the blue/purple/green hair.

Aeka has purple hair, Sasami has blue hair and Ryoko has a green sort of hair.

non of these girls are mysterious, though i guess they are cool, but not in the way one normally means cool.

It was just a gross generalisation...mainly trying to say that blue hair isn't particular to Rei, and not something really to be looked twice at or thought unusual in an anime character.

well this was raised be4 and my answer then was her hair could have been a mutation bet. the cross of angel DNA with human DNA... but like the others said "Its Anime"

well i was just wondering 'cos in evangelion, everyone else's hair resembles (at least) a natural or bleached (ritsuko) hair colour. Rei's not the type to dye her hair, so i was just wondering...
