The show was originaly a shojo maho (magic girl) program but whan it was transalated, it was targeted toward a male audiacne.

yeah.. that's true. i also believe it just sucks period. just the fact they didn't even start the series with the first episode and really started it with, i think it was, the 8th just pissed me off entirely. why did they have to do that in the first place.
STUPID DUBS!!!!! O_O

If every single Anime that is brought to mainstream western broadcast has to be fucked up one way or another, why the hell do Anime fans out there even bother to petition for uncensored releases?
I mean, those self righteous, money hungry assholes out there known as the network executives are NOT going to risk the bored, god fearing catholic housewives who don't get any sex going apeshit when they catch their liberal minded kids watching Son-Gohan turning into a Were-Ape. "Who cares about the enlightened minority of true anime fans", they think. After all, keeping those conservatives happy is a sure way to keep the cash cow milking.
So, I pledge that instead of pledging for uncensored mainstream releases, we should hereon petition for anime to STAY in the bounds of DVD and VHS, so that we can enjoy our treasure in its unadulterated form without being ridiculed.

Maybe its because the devils at Nelvanaso ---- scared of being found by Card Captor Sakura loyalists and being lynched to death by them (believe me, I'll be there to join in on the fun!!)
I totally agree with you. But let's be real here. Do you really think anime fans around North America can really get that to happen? Even if EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US signs ONE petition, the number of digimon and pokemon and cardcraptor people are STILL going to outnumber us. That would mean the companies can still make money, and they are going to completely ignore us. They are all capitalist bigots. :D

One of my main problems with the show (besides the horrible VAs, episode skipping, all relationship references, and theme song), is the fact that they don't want children to know the story takes place in Asia. What's wrong with learning about another cultures? Hell, Nelvana won't even admit that Sayoran and Meilin are from Hong Kong! I'm curious to see how they'll handle the movie when it comes out in theatres...

Dammit, now this is REALLY fucked up...
What is so wrong about being an Asian that the fact we exist have to be denied to the children of America?
Maybe, Mister Racist American Beauracratic Censor, the handsome Asian boy back in Grade Six always got better grades than you at school, and got the girl you always dreamed of.
Or perhaps that you cannot accept that we are the greatest warriors on the planet, when that said boy wiped the pavement with your racist ass with his Kung Fu skills when you tried to pick on that short Korean girl.
So to vent your ------- frustration, you take your vengeance on Asian culture by accquiring the rights to a wonderful Asian Series and undermining it in the eyes of the west to reinforce your own weak sense of security.
And yes, maybe your Aryan dream of white supremacy and global genetic purity may come true. But mark my words;
In this age of modern globalisation, you will NOT live to see that maniacal dream in your lifetime.

Grrr!!! this anime makes me mad! i havent seen all of Card Captor Sakura, but i have read all of the manga. all i can say is STUPID CENSORSHIP!
wat happened to Li-kun's crush on Yukito (now Julian Star)??
wat happened to Li-kun's engagement to his cousin???
wat happened to Yukino and Touya's shounen-ai relationship??
GRRRR!!!!

They make Syoran "scared" of Yukito, because of unknown reasons. And, he is mean to Meling, he hates her in the dub, theyre not even engaged or cousins anymore. Yukito and Touyas relationship is unappropiate for children.

I have the first bilingual CCS manga, and the translations a little confused (it was made by Kodansha), but it's still cool! By the way, Pioneer has the rights to CCS and the DVD is awesome! They even have Kero-chan Check on it! They have the both the Japanese and English opening (if you want to torture yourself with that). Pioneer gets points for doing such a great job!

I agree that the Japanese language version DVD is great. Definitely the way to see it.
Personally, I kind of liked some of the dubbed voices of Cardcaptors, but give me the original anyday for the plot order. Sometimes it barely even seemed like the same show.

I argee, So far Pioneer I'm very happy with the way Pioneer is doing with subbing CCS. I'm so glad that Pioneer got the rights to subb CCS and not some other company.
So I've manged so far to keep buying them as there released and each one is a wonderful. Though there are some wait in between each release it's worth the wait. I just hope that Pioneer keeps up the good work with the rest of the series and that they do all 70 episodes.
It would be nice if Pioneer did the two CCS movies as well but we don't wanna push our luck on that one:D. Will just have to keep our fingers crossed and hope that who ever does the movie does a good job on it.

however, the dubbed version was the first time i watched ccs. i thought it was ok until i heard about the storyline changes. argh! anyways, i don't mind it since i don't have the japanese versions but i did read the mangas and i was amazed at the changes that were made(so much damn changes). the storyline got so boring. this was like the worst dubbed anime. hmph.

short answer...
the dub is horrible
longer answer...
i hate:
-them trying to target the male audience
-skipping episodes, and going in a really screwed up order (that would be *no* order)
-taking out relationships
-changing their names
-Meilin and Syaoran do come from Hong Kong (but we're too stupid to learn about other cultures)
-it's wrong for Syaoran and Meilin to be cousins? (I can understand the engagement thing, but why get rid of both?)
-Rika is scared of her teacher because? (where do they get that from?)
-ignoring the fact they don't live in "Readington" and that their school uniforms still read Tomoeda
(i attached a picture to prove it! it's kinda hard to see, but Tomoyo's (i mean Madison's) uniform says Tomoeda, it doesn't even start with an 'R')
yes i could find more things to pick on... but i won't, for now at least :D
*staps dub with pointy stick* DIE!
