These guys are strange. In the series they are called a special group of elite hackers. When you find what the members of the knights look like, they seem like total losers. They also say that the knights are trying to merge the real world and the wired. But what was their true goal?why did they mess with Mika(Lain's sister)?and what were they planning to do with Lain?

see you space cowboys.

Knights are the elite hacker group, they were using some sorta of machine to collect psi from children over the wired and that's what got lain pissed off at them

I cant remember what the original purpose for that experiment was. Could someone refresh my memory?

It was to gather the psi of children and hasten a large amount of energy of some kind.I didn't know what they wanted to do with it though.

Maybe they were trying to duplicate the power Lain held. Since Lain can rewrite memory at will, her power could logially lay within her mind, or psi. Maybe if they could harness enough psi, they thought they could break down the barriers between the Real World and the Wired. Possibly what they were looking into the whole time? Since they have the Wired down pat, they would have an advantage over everyone else. An information advantage...

because, in the real world the knights are back to being them selves. thats why they wanted to merge the real with the wired : to escape from the doldrums of every day life.they didn't mess with lain because she wasn't tring to escape from anything she was just existing as she always had. but whos to really say what there true intensions are.

It was my understanding that the Knights were contacted by Deus who told them how to manipulate the real world by collecting psi. Why manipulate? I think they still needed Lain to break down the barriers and they were messing with her mind to get her to do their bidding. 'Course, that's just my take on things...

well, i finished the series today. my understanding was that the "wired god" (his name escapes me right now) needed the knights to help the progress of the wired. once the wired was advanced enough, they were no longer needed, so they were killed.

I thought they commited suicide when their names where exposed as being members.

No, they were killed, but I don't know by what. The guy in the office, the mother of the videogame kid, the fat slob, they all looked like they died suddenly, like their cords were unplugged.

After Lain sent their data over the wired, they were tracked down and eliminated by the MIB (or whoever). As I recall, they killed the executive by injecting him with something fluid, presumably something that couldn't be traced.

Knights.

there is a search done on them... it brings up alot of information right there... but are you interested enough to take the time to find out what it all says. for one, they are really called the...

Knights of the Eastern Calculus. they aren't really a group of Hackers. not at all even. that is just one of the many rumours that runs around about them. in reality, the Knights are simply a "Cult" so to speak who follows their "God"; Eiri. or "Deus."

the reason they have great access to the Wired and the reason that they appear to be "super hackers" is because they are presented with the upgrades and essencials to traverse the Wired freely.

like Taro said... with top of the line upgrades, you can do basically anything you want.

But the Knights were responsible for several computer attacks, correct? Every time you see a Knight, there's a computer in direct contact or at least used within the context of that scene. I'd call them hackers, but they certainly are not just simply that.

that simply depends on your term for a "Hacker"... i don't consider someone a "Hacker" just because they know how to use the software/hardware that they have been given. like Lain. do you consider HER a "Hacker" just because she can build her Navi into something so large? i don't. i consider a "Hacker" to be someone who can actually HACK INTO the technology rather than meet up with the technology. Lain is just following her instincts in my opinion... and the Knights are just following their Deus... their "God." i believe that Eiri was a "Hacker"... and seeing as he is LEADING the Knights, then they are able to take on "Hacker-esque" tasks maybe, but in the end, they were "nobodies" who followed a false leader.
