Are the towers on the Evas shoulders only used to store weapons and to hold the Evas down?

i think they're made for holding the evas and to hold weapons. they're described as "wings" tho :p

I've only seen weapons on Unit 01 and 02 though. Unit 01 stores a prog knife in one of its 'wings' while in EOE, Unit 02 had like a nail gun in it's 'wings'

They have also been used to house reserve battery packs. In the episode when they have the power failure they install battery packs, these are mounted on the wings.
