I've heard it is kind of an Evangelion rip-off, is that true? and is it any good? also, how many eps is it, and what is the basic story (spoiler free, please. ;))

Nope its not a rip off of Eva, its a totally different series. It has medival sword fighting and knights and stuff like that , much like Bastard!, but without the crazy super magics.

I'm not too sure either but I do own the okay dreamcast game but that puts you right into the middle of the story already. So I don't know if anything I mention may ruin the start. But it does seem very interesting and I would very much love to see it too! So...does someone know what it's really about? (sorry).

About a guy called gatts and his life as part of the Band of the Hawks(a band of mercenaries) anything more will spoil it for you , unless you want me to....

Uhhhhh.......no thanks, don't say anymore. Is it really worth hunting down? The setting of the game sounds very interesting.

Berserk is amazing... It's one of my favourite anime series... It would definitely be on my top 3 list...

Violence, demons, and a guy with a massive sword... What more could you want?

The animation is also very well done with amazing oil painting still shots that they use at transitions. The music is also pretty good. The best part was the character development and the insane amount of very realistic fight scenes.

Morbius, when you say realistic fight scenes, what wouold you rate them on a scale of 1-10? Toss in DBZ and Ninja Scroll for a comparison, if you would. Like, if DBZ rated a 4 and Ninja Scroll rated a 6, what would Berserk rate? Anything with good art and realistic fight scenes catches my attention.

I would give the fight scenes a 9/10 for realism... There's sometimes a little too much blood but at least when the main character is taking on a bunch of guys he actually gets hurt and tired...

In terms of the excitement of the fight scenes I'd give it a 9.5/10 but only for a few key fights... The usual battle scenes are pretty basic hack and slash stuff...

The only other anime that I think had comparable fight scenes without guns or mechas is Kenshin...

Basically, it's about a wandering swordsman named Gattsu, an up-and-coming rogue knight (Griffith) in charge of the hugely successful Band of Hawks (a select group of mercenaries), the second-in-command female named Casca, and lots and lots of dead bodies. But there's much more to Berserk than the fighting. The characters grow on you, there are some serious plot surprises, and in the end, you'll wish there were more.

Because obviously... any anime that makes you think and reflect on the series MUST be a rip-off of Evangelion... afterall, they are the first series to do that... yeah.... :rolleyes:

Mecha? Hell No
Swords? No...
Rei or Asuka? .....Caska does not fit any of their qualities...I think...so no

And definitely not the plot!

Whoever says Berserk is a rip-off of Eva must be high on something.

Oh, after seeing the first tape, you will want more.
