According to Amazon.com the 1st Blue Seed DVD was released on 1/30/01. It also shows a release date of March 27 for the second DVD. The first one has a running time of 174 minutes it says. That's a long time considering Blue Seed Episodes are about 20 to 25 minutes long. I haven't been to my various video stores to see if they have it or know anything since I had no idea it would be out. I check it out tommorow.
that would be 7 episodes!
Yep its seven episodes. Its got two of the Omake Theaters on it as well.

They might put more omake theaters on the later DVDs.
That totally rocks that they put 7 on each. Doesn't take much out of my wallet to buy the whole series. :D

an omake is some 'extra' the director or art staff decided to throw in with an anime at the end of a certain number of episodes... as in Blue Seed where every even episode is followed by Omake Theater, a collection of this stuff.

It's hard to believe that there's 7 episodes on a DVD. Maybe this will start a trend with other anime DVDs. Couldn't find it at one of my stores but the person working there didn't have a clue what anime was.
I heard that there are going to be 4 DVDs and that the last DVD will probably be filled with more Omake Theaters since it will have a lower episode count than the other three DVDs.

I checked out the Blue Seed DVD at Sam Goody today and yes it's 7 episodes and 180 minutes of play time. Didn't get today but I'll get it soon. Talk about a good value. Too bad other anime wouldn't take this approach, it make it a lot cheaper!
Yeah, I wish it was that way too. Do you know how much shelf space that would also save?

DVDs can hold over 4 hours of video. Putting only an hour or two on one is a waste. But companies want ot make $$$ so that's why they don't use 'em to their capasity. At least you usually get 4 episodes on a DVD and not 2 like tapes.
4 hours depending on bit rate quality

I know but it's great that they're putting 7 episodes on 1 DVD. I wish other anime was like that.
I got the Blue Seed DVD! It's the first time I've seen Blue Seed and I haven't watched the whole DVD yet, but, it's pretty good. I'll be glad when I can get the next one. :B:

I too recently bought the first DVD volume after seeing some tapes a friend of mine made off Action.
Man, I must agree. This is definately the way to go. I wish to god that they had did Evangelion like this, that way I wouldn;t be having to wait in suspense to see what happens next as bad since each disc would have more episodes.

Just a reminder, the second Blue Seed DVD is going on sale this coming Tuesday the 27th. Should be 7 more episodes with 2 more DVDs with 6 each. Pretty cheap off of Amazon, only about $20. Good deal if U ask me.

Yes, it's a great deal if you ask me.
I acquired the first DVD 2 weeks ago because a friend had recommended it to me, and I was definately NOT disappointed with what I got.
I can't wait for the second DVD, and will be nabbing it ASAP.

Seven episodes is a good-ass deal. I guess ADV did that because they weren't making much money off Blue Seed in the first place. I wish those bastards would release all of Eva on 4 discs! And they still haven't released Gamera 2 and 3 like they said they would ages ago! Grrrrr.... anyway...
From what I've seen in the various previews of Blue Seed, it looks pretty damn good. What the hell is it about? Looks like someone got a ridiculous idea to smash elements from Godzilla, Evangelion, Resident Evil, and DBZ into one storyline. Thats what I saw in it anyway, I'm sure its nothing like any of those. Those monsters look really freakin' cool. I guess I'll go buy the DVD.
