Exactly what the topic states. Why in the world did they end SamuraiX like that? They could of at least let Tomoe live and let the bad guy die by his damn self!
Ah, so much pain...
I thought that ending was awesome. And I believe the later kenshin tv series builds on that ... wit the return of Tomoe's brother ... I think.
I believe the ending was very ironic, maybe even symbolic. Tomoe said kenshin "took away her happiness, but gave her a new one." Kenshin who has killed a whole lot of people with no remorse finally falls for somebody, and he ends up killing her too. Very ironic. I say the ending was a good one.
I heard the manga ending was different, and some say the manga one was better.

Nah,the OVAs are the best.
I think it was Tomoe's death that made Kenshin fully aware of how wrong killing was and gave him his new "no killing" philosophy.
It makes his scar very symbolic too.

I would have to agree with the others, that the ending was good and in the same time also sad. Also, they had to kill her or else there is no sense of Enishi coming back for revenge. Another thing, of Tomoe was still alive the she and Kaoru would have a love triangle(just a thought). Lastly, did you know that in the manga the scar that Tomoe made in the OAV was accidental.hmmm...
Yeah, I liked the Ending, I wnet back in the last week and watched some of the Kyoto arc. It feels more appropriate, especially when he's fighting Saitoh

Kyoto-arc?
return of Tomoe's brother?
I never knew this stuff existed! I guess with all that happening in the future, the ending of tomoe had to be...sadly.:(
I guess I better check my anime store to see if these vids ever come in. I hope they do! They sound interesting!:)
Check ya Later!

In the OAV Tomoe made the 2nd scar when she was about to die while in the manga she made it almost as soon as they met.
Watch the TV series. In particular the Kyoto Arc (Around ep 30-70) The ending will make much more sense

Unfortunately you're not going to find any of the revenge arc on video. It's only in the manga the tv show was based on. Here's a URL with good translations:
http://members.fortunecity.com/serizawa - "Serizawa Kamo's Rurouni Kenshin Translation Index" (a great site with lots of links for summaries of all the manga story arcs from start to finish)
2nd scar story:
in the comic...
-slashes tomoe
-dagger flys from tomoe's hand
-cuts kenshin's face
-kenshin holds the dying tomoe in his arms
-"please don't be sad" tomoe smiled
-died
in the ova
-slashes tomoe
-kenshin holds the dying tomoe in his arms
-tomoe told her dagger and slashes it across his face.
-kenshin's tears mixed with blood
-"please forgive me" tomoe said
-died
Which made sense? you decided.

Tomoe had to die for so many reasons but the most important reason is that iF Tomoe lived Kenshin wouldnt spend those ten years wondering around japan and the Rest of the RK plot woulndt exist.
