It might be a good idea to label spoilers before you post about a character's death.

How about the STUPIDEST death. Weiss Kreuz spoiler........

When Botan dies. Talk about pointless. So he sacrifices himself for this @SS he just freakin met two days ago?!?! Uh yeah. He takes multiple shots from an automatic, then gets sets on fire. Uh overkill. He was the most promising character in the WHOLE SHOW and they kill him off after 3 episodes. Stupidity my friends. Utter stupidity!!!!

Kagato's death in Tenchi Muyo! OVAs, both Tenchi and Kagato ready for the final showdown both rush towards each other with swords at the ready, slash and then theres the wait to see who wins, such a classic scenario.

Fatmans death from Spriggan, hand gets sliced then he gets gutted and then finally gets ripped up by bullets fired from a huge gun.

And thats about it from me

Rurouni Kenshin OVA

Tomoe's death at the hands of kenshin

Asahina's brutal death at the hands of the person she loved

Shirece sacrificing herself for Ryuhou's sake using the full power of her alter which killed her yet restored Ryuhou

When Legato made Vash choose was also a powerful moment

Macross Plus Spoilers: (Movie Version)
Guld's death. The fight between the YF-21 and the Ghost was cool. The series version wasn't that good. Guld just smashes into it in that one, but the movie version rocked!

Almost everyone alucard/arkard (?) killed. Like the priest in the 1st ep, the valentine (?) brother in the 6th and most certainly, incognito’s death at the end. His state of mind makes for some great kills.

SPOILERS for X and Cowboy Bebop.

Seishirou's death in X (TV or manga, not his cheap-ass "Hi, Subaru! *splat*" movie death) was one of the most poignant scenes in the series. I mean, the guy was a real bastard most of his life, but he was so earnest and tender as he was dying, and his final words...well, they were long-awaited, to say the least. It's a scene that didn't take well to being animated, as the power is really in the stills of the manga. Nevertheless, it's one of my favorite scenes in any series ever and undoubtedly one of the best character deaths I've seen.

Gren from Cowboy Bebop also had a beautiful death, glad to see someone else acknowledging him.

Manga-wise, about 2/3 of the deaths in Angel Sanctuary are full-on ultra-melodramatic angst fests, and I, uhm, kinda have a bit of a weakness for those.

Hear, hear! I didn't know whether to laugh (because it was badly animated too) or cry when I saw that scene.

OH I though of another one. Giant Robo spoilers.....

The truth about Bashtarle. That haunting opera music, the grand shadows of the looming eye of Folger, Franken von Folger's valient sacrifice and the fact that no one, not even his own son, saw him for what he really was. Plus its THE coolest explosion I've ever seen and I never tire of seeing this scene replayed over and over, from a new perspective.

If you took one look at Giant Robo's retro animation style and thought "boring kiddy stuff", think agian! Everyone should see this OVA!!!!!!!!!

Geez when EVERY main character dies it was so emotional! Ginrei, Testuygo's "death". I always cry. It is definately the music above all that makes it so moving.

God, yes. Giant Robo is all about heroic death. For some reason, the ones that really stick with me are those of Youshi and Kenji. Despite having just lost her husband, Youshi wasn't consumed with rage or grief. She just went right on fighting for what she believed in to the best of her ability. It was the truest way to honor Taisou's memory. Kenji's death really touched me too, despite the fact he acted like jerk towards Daisaku. Imagine, the man who can not die finally meets his end opening the way for his lover to save the world. And Ginrei...! Oh God, I'm gonna cry... :bawling:

In the final episodes of Berserk, pretty much every member of the Hawks dies fighting heroically. Except for Corkus, but his reaction was understandable and he still didn't deserve what he got. The way death took him the very second he finally felt relief was... not touching, but damned shocking at least. Makes you just go, "Oh... Sh*t..." Pippin threw himself into the middle of the horde without a second thought to save Caska. The man who seemed nigh invincible throughout the course of the series is still no match for the monsters. Judeau's death is probably the most wrenching. The desperate headlong flight, his confession to Caska and finally a gruesome demise as he shields her for just a few seconds longer...

Jeez. This is depressing.
