Downtime for memory upgrades - Oct/Nov 2004

Sometime in the next 1-2 weeks, Disboards.com folks who are generously hosting Animeboards.com , will be upgrading their web server and mysql database server with more memory to cope with the growing loads placed on the 2 servers. Web server will add an additional 1GB of registered ECC ram, while mysql database server will add another 2GB of registered ECC ram. So servers will go from

I can honestly say, without Pete and Alex from Disboards.com generously hosting Animeboards.com right now, Animeboards.com wouldn't be online any more.

Some members and visitors have expressed the need for new registrations to reopen, so hopefully the added memory upgrades to Disboards.com's servers will allow Animeboards.com to reopen regos.

horray!! but there has to be a way to stop freeloading. it'll only last so long. AB has to find a way to support itself (ie donations. too bad it taxes money to donate).

George, how does $20 a month from me sound? I can't promiss I can pay it every month or when I'd be able to pay it, but as of next month, I'm debt free and have loads of extra money coming in. Hit me up with your paypal account if you're interested.

Splintr420 27-10-2004 09:13 PM

i can give too. 10 bucks a month ain't a problem at all. I do more if needs be too. anything to keep AB going and pump some new blood in!

I have a great idea! We can run AB off blood money! Or, more specifically, plasma donation money. That'd be great, we could call this, "The first website paid for by blood money," or something equally nifty/weird.

would there be a way to pool together all the money supposed to be given, and then give it at once? Would that cut back on the tax it takes to pay through paypal or whatever? Thats so stupid, but i guess its how they make money. Is there any way to bypass paypal? Send checks?

Thanks guys for the offer... I'm sure something could worked out although not right now. I guess the old 'Fund raising' forum needs to be brought back so members can discuss this. Although not sure how many of the old/regular members would want to contribute heh.

I'm sure I could contribute as well... I know I haven't been as active on AB as far as posting goes, but I still lurk a lot... Hah, this place was my first real community. I'll help out as much as I can, Georgie-poo. :p

Nyo, PayPal taxes a whole dollar. ><; I had to set up a PayPal account for one of my contracts, and yeah, it sucks. ;_; At least they don't keep it if you refund the donation...

I suggest you get your P. O. box thing again. And yeah, post somewhere that ppl sending money need that special money-order-thing so that you don't have to pay the bank to cash it.

I could send a few dollars... Sorry I'm poor. ^^;
