Hi, my name is Glabrezu

Hello guys, I would like to reintroduce myself. My name is Glabrezu, you may remember me from many years ago i'm one of your friendly mods gone AWOL. Or you may be one of the new guys thinking "who the hell does this guy think he is?" Don't worry new guys you didn't miss much.

The cause of my absence, well it all started with the little thing called 9/11. Having to clean up the crap posted after that incident killed my joy of posting here...well really on any forum. Apart from that life happened, got married (had Havok as a groomsman, thanks man :)) had a couple of kids (4yo girl, 1 week old boy). But since getting pay TV last year I have upped my intake of anime a lot although still pissed at the loss of Adult Swim, I was enjoying Bleach, Eureka 7, Inuasha, Full Metal Alchemist, Trinity Blood ect...ect.

So I guess hi to all the old timers who may remember me, and hi to all the new people. I hope to post more frequently about this place.

Good grief; it's Glab! :D

Glabrezu 21-04-2008 10:01 AM

Yup I still live. :)

To think it's coming up to 8 years since I joined here.

As you may have sensed, you have returned in troubled times. Everyone has gone AWOL apart from ~5 semi-regulars and ~5 quarter-regulars. Post rates have dropped to an all time low. Any day with >3 posts is a cause for celebration. His Excellency Eva2000 has stopped verifying new members since Sep 2007, thus creating a legion of "ghost members" who can browse but cannot post, and exacerbating the low posting rate. Even the moderators have given up hope - e.g. http://www.animeboards.com/showthread.php?t=60421

Indeed, this is the nadir in AB's history - the apogee of AB's orbit around the optimal state. The atmosphere has degenerated into a morgue.

Yet in this bleak situation, in our darkest hour, Mother Mary comes to us, speaking words of wisdom. Some of us plebs (the AnimeBoards Revival Progressive Alliance, or ABRPA) started applying political pressure on Eva2000 and his cabinet of moderators. His Excellency has devised a revival strategy - http://www.animeboards.com/showthread.php?t=60425, but it is slow in being implemented. We have no idea when or if it will be put into effect.

So much for the history of the digital kingdom of AnimeBoards.

Minister Glazebru, you can be a great force in the fight to keep the economic and cultural capital of this sovereign state alive. Join the efforts of the ABRPA in pushing for change.

I don't remember what happened here after 9/11. What sort of crap was posted?

Glabrezu 21-04-2008 06:32 PM

Hmmm, I wonder what George has been up to then. I guess life has picked up a lot of people over the years. I will have to spend a bit of time looking about to see what I can help with, hopefully there may be something I can assist with. I remember when I first joined there was not a lot of active members but the discussion used to be good.

9/11, sorry mate it's something I don't want to revisit to much. Suffice to say that there were some stridently pro USA and anti USA people neither side realising that it was a sensitive time when a little thought should go into their posts.

Although I did laugh at a couple of Schizm's posts even though I had to delete them.

Black_Knight 21-04-2008 07:43 PM

I think a statue of limitation for mod powers needs to be put in place with the fact that the majority of the moderator crew have vanished/died/defected to larger forums. Then again with the posting rate of this forum, it's all Georgy's work.

As for you Gheb, yes, I dub your pet name Gheb. I trying to remember what influence you had on the forum. As for 9/11 sensitivity, considering the miasma I've submersed myself in, it's now just used for humor and crazy Amerikkkans saying it was an inside job.

Oh well, good to see at least one older member return and show they aren't dead.

Welcome back. I liked Eureka 7 and Full Metal Alchemist, but I never got around to finishing them. I hope you enjoy it here :)

Now if I posted that, I'd be banned. FuŠking double standards

John Faulkner 22-04-2008 07:38 PM

Did Schizm create that picture himself? If so, one wonders where he obtained the original footage.

You shall refer to him as The Right Honourable Gentleman Glabrezu. Remember that we, the ABRPA, are a professional political party, and to gain popular support and funding, we act accordingly. Take heed of what Otto von Bismarck said: "Be polite; write diplomatically; even in a declaration of war one observes the rules of politeness." We're not at war, but negotiating for change. We adhere to our Revivalist Manifesto:

a) Keep posting no matter what. It does not matter if this place becomes a frozen wasteland, just ------- post something.
b) Keep negotiating with the government of the Republic of AnimeBoards.
c) Generate an exciting atmosphere
d) Welcome new members with elaborate introduction posts
e) Explore creative new avenues for revival
f) Wear a headset which conducts the brain waves of Fidel Castro into our mind

Brothers, we can take heart from the recent extraordinary success of the Maoists in Nepal. After years of political strife, they have defied critics and commentators alike with a storming election success. Let us sing our anthem, chests bursting with pride and joy:

"There's a place in your heart
And I know that it is love
And this place could be much brighter than tomorrow ......
Heal AB, make it a better place,
For you and for me and the entire human race.
There are ways to get there,
If you care enough for the living ......."
