its ok. its like mostly comedy in the beginning but it gets kinda serious near the end when plots are found out. then it turns funny again. you have to see it for yourself to get what i mean its really good and you should at east try and see one of the movies. i think there were a total of 5 movies i think.

I'm a sucker for that type of character...it's a familiar one in anime...guy who acts like a moron/ordinary bloke 99% of the time but is deadly at what he does when he has to do it...think Ryo Saeba, Kenshin, Orphen, to name a few...

Actually all three of those characters have been voted "most popular anime male" in Japan in their time...clearly designing a character along those lines is the secret to anime success

I like City Hunter for the action, but also for the laughs (even if they are predictable). It's one of the few series that I would consider buying from ADV (even if they ARE releasing it under their "fansubs" label But that's a whooole new argument for another time) Have you seen the '99 special? That's the only movie that hasn't been licensed, it's good fun.

They pretty much still put out a City Hunter Special every year, because it was such a hugely popular series and Ryo Saeba was such a popular character. There's not really much point going into the plot of the movie, it uses a few of the characters from Ryo's past that are in the manga. Great fun
