Yui was absorbed in Eva unit 01 during an experiment. Yui's soul was never in Rei. Yui's soul is in Eva 01. Rei is made up of Angel and what was salvaged of Yui in Eva Unit 01, by that i mean a couple of cells. Yui's remains and cells from an Angel named Lilith were combined together to create Rei.

Now, Rei has maternal instincts toward Shinji but that doesn't mean that she has Yui's soul. I'm not even clear on who's soul she has.

I'm assuming that you haven't seen the movies so i won't go any further.

I dont think so..... Gendou planned to use Rei all the time... and Yui and Gendou formed the plan... Yui was well aware about Rei.. so cells were used before hand. I dont think that Yui needed to die... to make contact with the EVA.... once she died (on purpose of course) her soul was transferred.

Asuka's mum had contact with Unit-02 and went crazy from it... eventually killing herself so thus she wasnt transfferred until when she died.... (I believe Naoko is in Unit-00) Naoko had contact with Unit-00, considering she helped built it... then she was either pushed by Gendou or jumped of the MAGI (who cares works either way)... then her soul was transferred AFTER. It is my oppion that Rei probably was created before Yui died!

Fool yourself... the RCB is not written by Anno... the creator of EVA... Anno didnt tell ANYONE what he was doing.... The RCB is just as reliable as you or mine oppion. For it is fact that some things in the RCB is WRONG! SO it is untrustworthy!!!

You sure? I figured she lost her soul (or part of it, or whatever) in the experiment, which made her go mad.

Losing your soul to a robot usually does that

I think that she went crazy because she never really loved Asuka and felt bad... I cant be bothered explaining why... lol... its late...

It's very easy to say,
"Oh, yes Yui's soul is in Unit one, Asuka's mother's soul is in Unit two, and Naoko's soul is in Unit zero"
But what exactly is a soul? Who is to say that a part of ones soul can or cannot be lost or even all of it? Does one NEED a soul to exist? Do souls even exist in reality?

I think Rei 1's soul is her own, Rei 2's soul is her own, and Rei3's soul is her own. Unit zero may not have a soul at all, but if it (she?) does I beleive it likely to be Rei1's which is why there were so many stuff ups in its (Unit Zero's) creation (ep 23, just before Ritsuko destroys The dummy system).

Well this is questioning something EVA doesnt bring up... it is addressing something the bible barely brings up. Can a soul be proven.... NO.... can a soul be jusified or logically understood... no.... However it all in real life comes down to faith and oppion.

Your oppion but the evidence supporting other wise is increasing..... besides remmeber dont make the discussion become personal. You see to you would it really matter if Rei had her own soul... would you prefer she did. For me I dont care... I just go where the evidence points and in my oppion I think it points otherwise. Besides... it said by Ritsuko that "created her own soul".

but Rei's soul is in rei??... mmmm.... Well about Unit-00 not having a soul.. an AT field is the light of the soul... it bounds us together... it keeps us with form... without one we would crumple to LCL form. So the question is where does the AT field in an EVA orginate the EVA or from the Pilot... now the EVA series didnt have pilots... BUT did have AT fields... thus the AT field must orginate from the EVA. So if Unit-00 doesnt have an AT field... then it would crumple to LCL form...

Let me reclarify (and at the same time make myself appear to be in a less uncomfortable position).

The MAIN point of my last post was to say that people who talk of the souls of the evas should be able to tell me exactly what a soul is. Until you can is it wise to debate about such things?

If my theory on the subject is wrong I'm not sure I care. The way I see the evidence is quite obviously different to how you see the evidence, and how I see it only leads to impossible dilemnas. I have not found ONE theory (not even my own, above) that can be ratified in my mind as the truth yet, and I'm not sure I will.

Well this I find completely illogical... we discuss things to discover things... I mean scienice/relgions nor philosiphy can define what life is... however all of us at one time or another have attempted to answer that.. and actyually descibe what the aims of life are, and what we live for... we may not know what life is... but we can still talk about it...

Same deal.. people may not know who or what God is... but CAN still talk about him... and in fact talk TO him.

Of course we discuss things to learn more about them, but before we discuss whose soul is in unit 00 we should discuss what is a soul, once we 'know' what we're dealing with then we discuss more complicated matters that rest on the definitions of the more simple things. You understand?
