Why is Omoikane, Ruri's best friend???
Now Ruri admits herself that she got quite attached to the crew of the Nadesico, but yet she seems to have no friends other than Omoikane. Now the ships computer might be full of knowledge, but it still not Human. Is the Artificial Intelligences of Omoikane that advanced that Ruri can relate to it more. Do you think Ruri can relate to Omoikane more because they are very similar? Omoikane is a computer while Ruri was brought up as one.

There really isn't anyone on the Nadesico that Ruri can really look up to. She thinks the entire crew is "baka baka".

I think because she can't call the computer "baka baka" because she realizes it is smarter than her, so, she is the computers friend o.O

Perhaps because Omoikane doesn't say or do stupid things and it has Ruri's level of intelligence.
Further more, it's gives Ruri a sense of purpose on the Nadesico.

not to mention that with the interface implants, ruri really is 'one' with Omoikane (watch the movie), so the AI is her equal, and has possibly even been influenced by Ruri's inner emotions regarding the crew...
Oh, and there IS one crewmember Ruri does look up to... Akito! Watch the movie!
