Studio Ghibli goodness on SBS (Australia)

On SBS tonight (28th September) at 10pm there's a Miyazaki documentary that goes for an hour and straight after that there's Porco Rosso.

Definately going to catch the documentary, Porco Rosso I'll watch if I can be bothered.

Forgive the ignorance, but Porco Rosso?
anyway, I'll watch. Might also be a good idea to go to sbs website and voice some support for an increase in things like this.

It's a Studio Ghibli movie by Miyazaki about some flying ace called Porco Rosso who is well a pig and his adventures in the sky. It's a fun movie but the storyline is a bit iffy, IMO feels like it jumps around too much.

Watched it, thought is was great. Can't believe I've only seen it now, it came out when?

On another note, I was sitting watching Stand Alone Complex last night and it was followed by this crazy chicks-fliping-out-and-killing-each-other movie called 2LDK. You seen this, or it's "competitor" in the Duel Project, Arigami?

I'm just happy that SBS id deciding to show Anime again. When Evangelion screened it did O.K so they screened Bubblegum Crisis. That on the other hand bombed. And for about 3 years there was no anime on SBS. Unless something like Akira screened. So I just hope that people are watching these things because for some people SBS is their only source of Anime. Well mature Anime anyway.

Early 90s I think.

I missed 2LDK, just stopped watching TV after Stand Alone Complex, it was a boring episode and I didn't feel like watching anything anymore. I do hope this'll be a norm on Thursday nights now with SBS showing a Japanese movie after Stand Alone Complex.

Did Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 bomb? I thought it had a decent fanbase watching it.

I think SBS has a couple more Studio Ghibli movies up its sleeves, I think its Spirited Away and Laputa though I already have both on DVD.

LOL my cousin lived by herself in a studio apt in Tokyo. Soon after she moved into a 2LDK with her boyfriend, they split up. 2LDKs are evil You could see it was pretty psycho after about 5 minutes though.

Anyways... Porco Rosso is from 1992, between Kiki and Ocean Waves. The rest of the films soon to be shown on SBS were posted by Sly on the MadBoards:

5th October Laputa: Castle In The Sky

12th October Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind

19th October Kikiís Delivery Service

26th October Spirited Away

Good ol Porcco Rosso. Most likely reason you didnt see it previously, is (I think) Disney bought it. But kinda slipped under the radar. I thought it was a fantastic story.
