Why does everyone love Akito?

Now I know that it is a Harem Anime, but still... Even some of the guys seem to fall for Akito's charms. What's makes Akito God's Gift to Women? You have characters like Akatsuki Nagare who is the perfect Pretty Boy and Jun Aoi who is the perfect Guy Next Door and yet they get looked over. The only other person pulling the chicks from the Nadesico crew is Goat Hory. He somehow managed to pick up Minato. So what makes is Akito a Chick Magnet?

Seiously, it must be his personality... how he presents himself. I've found from personal the better you present yourself the better chance you of "getting the girl." I've never been good at conversation; I think that's I never had a girlfriend. I've been going to a local restaurant by myself (every time I'm in a group [even a small one] I don't get a chance to speak) to work on the flaw and it seems to be helping

Akatsuki may be the pretty boy, but he's a bit arrogant; Jun's a good guy but he tries a little too hard to win a [certain] girl's affections. Akito just seems to have the right mix. He's not either of these; he's more down to to earth and he's not out to win over anyone.

Anyways, yaoi fantasies aside, there is something about Akito that most people can (or not) relate to. Whether he has that competitive edge, the coolest and suaveness (or lack thereof), the fact that he can actually cook and his down right honesty, everyone seems to have been drawn to him.

I only like him because he has that honesty thing happening, eventhough he has a sweet excuse of a captain tailling him no matter what.

Haha that is true, note why must anime bishounen characters are angsty. Though Akito wasn't your typical bishounen looking character he did have his amount of angst.
