Post Phantom

Phantom is the story of Zwei, a Japanese student who travels to Los Angeles on vacation, where he just happens to witness a mob killing carried out by a girl named Ein, also known as The Phantom. Zwei is taken prisoner, his memories erased, and then is given a choice -- die or be trained as an assassin.

Ein is an efficient killer. She can do in dozens at a time. But that is not really so impressive when you consider that most of her victims are pretty much doing nothing by standing around waiting to get shot. Teaming up with Zwei, the two go on assignments. But when Zwei warms her heart, Einís conditioning begins to break down. Will love save Einís soul and her life?

It is a pretty good story. But the sight of heads getting shot open gets pretty old after a while. They really overdo the violence. The animation is not too impressive. They often use stills, doing things on the cheap.

There are only three episodes to the series. Perhaps if they would have added a few more focusing on the relationship between Zwei and Ein, it would have been better. As is, I rate Phantom as average.

Hmmm. 26 episodes? Netflix doesn't seem to have that version. I assume that it would further develop the (romantic?) relationship between Zwei and Ein? But since I already know the outcome. . . .
