Stuff posted in the RPG forums for Angel Eyes. Pencil sketches that need ink and color. Now is the time to tell me to change things! Because, let's face it, once they're inked, they're inked.

Warning! I am a lingerie addict, and I wanted to see how well I could draw the female form. I guess you could say that these are questionable pictures, though no one's complained yet. If you're easily offended by girls in underwear, then the followed section is not for you.


Raime, not SD. Heh. She's wearing something from Victoria's Secret. The skirt is supposed to be transparent.

Raime. I think the only thing I like here is how her wings came out. She looks like a badly done Victoria's Secrets ad.

Kazeko, with a bear. And not much else. I feel dirty. She looks so young! Oh well, chalk it up to sexual frustration.

This is Raime. It was posted a while back, and part of a coloring contest. But I really like this one.

Raime, new style for me. I like the way her eyes came out.

Kazeko. "Eeep" Bunny. She's so CUTE!

Raime looks annoyed here. Not the best picture I've ever done, but it'll look better inked I hope. And colored. Coloring=wheee!

Kazeko, in profile. Yeah, I know, her hand is all wrong. Concentrate on the face, as I'm thinking of cutting out everything and just making that a head shot.

Kazeko, drinking tea. The only good thing I have to say for this picture is her teacup is cute.


So please, please tell me what to change NOW before I ink. Please.

your style reminds me of Piro's style from megatokyo... but i absolutely love your small waists and long legs! hee hee...

oh, and about inking... word of advice, pull the pencil sketch up in adobe, change the grey scale to blue... make it a bit light, print it out, ink it, scan it back up, then play around with the um... color picker thing whose name i can't remember right now to get rid of the sketch art so all it focuses on is the master channel which is your line art...

saves the sketch art.
and yes, you can keep printing out more copies if you dont like the first ink one.

i hope what i just said made sense... i just barely woke up.

Kiva, I would love to reply but the majority of these are scanned too lightly. I'm having trouble seeing them. Next time scan them in as black and white and they should be visible enough for us to comment on.

When they get scanned in black and white, the pencil shading sort of makes it hard to see the details. (ugh... hate... black and white)

That's so odd though, they actually came out pretty dark on this monitor. Oh well, you can comment on the inked.

And Nair, what you're saying actually makes a lot of sense except for this part

Narumi vs. Ji Lan. Fighting game! Pay no attention to the coloring as it's bad and made worse by the file size limit on AB. (Really, Narumi's hair looked much better before! ...Ji Lan's didn't.) It's supposed to be a fighting game thing from SoF (Keeper RPGs make me swoon).

oh oh, i got it... now once you've sketched your sloppy sketch and changed it to blue or red or green or any type of color, print it out.

Do the line art, ink it... if you don't like the ink that you've just done, simply print out another copy of the sketcheronie and ink it agian till you get it right. at least this way, you can print as many copies as you want. Hopefully i can write up a tutorial on this...

scan it back again and make sure you scan it in RGB.

Image > Adjust > Hue/Saturation (make sure you're in Image Mode RGB color, or else this option will be greyed out).

now change the channel to blue, set the saturation up to white... go back and change it to a different channel until all you have is simply the line art. ^^


now i hope that does make sense.

ehehe... you know, i have that cute group picture of you when the triad went to visit... i love your expression when yeller erm... 'invaded' your space... cackle* i'll show you the piccy when i have time.

anyhoo, you are getting better with your line art... but your coloring still kinda sucks. it looks like you dont care and you're sloppy with it. um... it's like delicate, super cool line art with sucky sloppy cg... you make cg look like you've done it with pastels...

but you know... keep working with that because it is yours and i've only seen this with you and i can tell what a kiva drawing is simply by looking at pastel looking CG... It's probably going to work someday, you just need to keep doing it till you hit the spot.

God, I looked awful that day. I shared my bed with Sam and she kicked me all night in the thigh. I had slept so little and then, just as they're leaving Crakka announces that he raped me. I'm like... "WHEN!?"

My coloring is just awful, but I'm getting a little better at inking with a mouse I think. My coloring, however, has always been awful, especially markers, colored pencils, and PAINTING. I'm awful at painting.

*mutters* thought I made it very clear that I didn't one any of those dirty DDR trend babies touching me. Grrrr, just moves right into my space. I had to give them the 'magic bubble' speech afterwards. Lousy punks.

Nice stuff yo. LOTS of nice stuff. I'm jealous of anyone who can draw 5 completed characters in any kind of time frame (gets bored with his own sketches)

I totally love the cuteness factor on some of them. Especially that teddy bear one! And I'm usually not one to shout 'kawii' (Or whatever).

Nice eyes too. I always look at eyes and eyebrows first (Yes the fetish...I know...eyebrows...). The bigness factor and the eyelashes look perfect.

Things to change before inking:

You probably saw that picture when minwa colored it and made me fall in love with my own character. Or when PA colored it and did some weird background thing. Or when Tommy colored it and made me fall MORE in love with my own character. It's the striped underwear. I can't help myself.

For clarification, problems I have with the pictures.

1. Her feet are wrong and would look better if I made it clear she was stretching on her toes. Her nose is pointy. The abrupt line leading into her waist bothers me.

2. Eyelashes don't match right. Shoulders don't look right. What's going on with her underwear? Too rounded...

3. Lips too far down. Doesn't look "jail bait" enough.

4. Feet look weird. Hand looks weird. Looks cross-eyed. Her knees disturb me.



Not underwear! YAY!

1. His eyes seem SO far apart. His hair, further down, makes it look like he has hips, when he's supposed to be sort of hunched. Hmmm... fix that in inking.

2. Not cute enough. Needs more cute. Gargh.

3. Lips shaded too strong for the rest of the picture, ear too high, not clear on shoulders, she should look like she's turned, she just looks like she has a giant head.

4. Weird lips. Eyes too far apart. Folds in shirt are not consistent. The short part of her hair should not be flipping up like that. Chin looks bizarre.

5. It's a comedy shot. Poorly proportioned on Raime, though Kazeko has the excuse of being semi-chibi. Needs fix this.

6. I only want to use the head in this. Tell me where I went wrong with the head. I can't see what's wrong so far.

7. Mouth is lopsided, eyes are different styles, neck is too long, nose is too low, folds in shirt bad.

So if anyone has anything to add other than those, I would fall to my knees are worship you. Worship you good.

#1. Good! Her nose looks weird though, it's flat. Unless she's some kinda pinoccio person.

#2. Very nice! Can't see it clearly but I think there's something wrong with her hand.

#3. So cute! Her left eye (right to us) is shifted too much to the outside in comparison to her other eye.

#4. Nice! I've seen that one before. Only the legs are too long.

#5. Not bad! Only the left eye (right to us) is weird, kinda pinched.

#7. Pretty good! I think her left eye is placed too much sidewards and also too close to the ear, should be more to the nose.

#8. Very good! Because of the angle you've used, her right eye should be more shifted to the nose.
Btw, why does the bunny has a sweatdrop?!

The fingers of the girl with black hair could be drawn more visible in my opinion.

Raime, not SD: The anatomy looks good, but her nose sticks out to far, making it look stiff.

Raime: Actually, i like how her curves by her torso are less angular in this one, but her head seems too big and its hard to tell if her eyes are open or shut.

Kazeko, with a bear: Kawaii!

Raime coloring contest: Nice pose and nice hair, but her hands looks odd. The position is possible, i think, but it still looks odd.

Tou, I think: Ooohh. I like this one. You should draw more guys! bishies! Anyway, his right shoulder looks funny. Is that the back of his shirt you can see peeking behind his shoulder? It looks almost as if its part of his arm and makes it look deformed.
His eyes may be a bit too far apart, but its not a biggie, and i think its characteristic of your style anyway.

Toshi, SD: Cute.

Raime, new style for me: Shoulders too small for her head and ear too high, but yes, the eyes are nice. Her lips look wrong for the rest of the picture making it look like her mouth it open and her cig is just dangling there.

Kazeko. "Eeep" Bunny: Another cute one!

Raime looks annoyed here: Kazeko's head is deforemed, even for that position. I do like Raime's expression though.

Kazeko, in profile: He head is too flat in the back. Not much.

Kazeko, drinking tea: This one isn't as bad as you make it out to be. The difference in the eyes isn't that noticable and the lopsided mouth is kinda cute. ^^ But the neck is too long and the folds on her shirt should be more rounded and flowing.
