Mobile Suit Gundam SEED (New)

Newtype magazine finally confirms this news.

The next Gundam series will be titled Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. The lead protagonist is named Kira Yamato and the lead Gundam is called the G-5 Strike Gundam.

You can see a pic of what is presumably the G-5 Strike Gundam on the corner of the magazine's cover. A blown-up version can be seen below:

Please note that the kanji next to the title says that it's a tentative title and could possibly change

And there is no info that this is either a UC or Non-UC title, but by since it has a standard issue rifle and a bright red shield I don't think this is a super robot one.

true, plus they if its g-5 strike type, that sounds a bit like the g-3 mass produced gundam (always liked that color scheme) but ya i think it would be UC but then again, wing had a bright red sheild and a beam rifle. but who knows

There are going to be five Gundams in all, the G-5 Strike is piloted by a young kid named Kira Yamato which nobody is sure if its a man or a women. The G-5 has two different known configrations Normal Type and Aile Type, another of the Gundams is Gundam Astoray. You can find more information at www.mahq.net

Well if the Astoray was made in Russia they would call it a "Cosmoray", I do wonder what the other Gundams will be and Mobile Suits. Will it be like the Zaku II's and the Borjarnon from TAG, or will they be all new designs?

I been staring at the site for a good 15 min and trying to guess what the Japanese text are saying ....

Well don't laugh but this is what I "guess"

The tension between the Earth ferdation and ????(Zeon?) was becoming worse then ever. Diplomacy was stopped right from the start.
Therefore, a war had started.
???(something something) ??? 1 year later.

Neutral resource colony "?????" ???? sneak attack MS force. ??? Pacific were secretly making the ???? prototype (gundam?) and were taken by force.

The battle operation was a success, ????? (Zeon?) now had 4 MS ????.
An (mechanic?) student was caught in the battle by accident, and ???? (Explode/fire?), (he) ???? (<-- name) lost his relative and friend ????.
A sad and bloody goodbye.
????????????????? (<--- a whole line)
??????? (a whole line with something about strike back??)

1 Vs 4. A deathmatch between ????(gundam?) ????( gundam?) started.

The Gundam design looks very nice, however, I'm unimpressed with the character design.
Heh, I just noticed all the profiles were of females. An all-girl Gundam show? Is it possible?

the bad thing here is we might not see this for 4 years, assuming that bandai will license Z, ZZ, X and Turn A first (plus the ova's).
