Cartoon Network Acquires InuYasha for Adult Swim Action Block
New Animé Series Joins Adult Swim Saturday Night Action Block August 31 at 11:00pm (ET, PT)
InuYasha will make its U.S. debut on Cartoon Network on Saturday, August 31 during the Adult Swim Action programming block. The 52 episode series will premiere at 11 p.m. (ET, PT) on the 31st and will air Saturdays.
Kagome is a modern day young girl who lives with her family by the old Higure shrine. Unbeknownst to Kagome, she is the reincarnation of priestess Kikyo and possesses the “Jewel of Four Souls." One ill-fated day, Kagome locates an ancient well near her home and is abruptly transported through the well and into a feudal Japan, inhabited by demons and goblins. There, she encounters Inuyasha, son of a powerful demon father and a human mother, who is pinned to a tree by an enchanted arrow.
Kagome frees Inuyasha from the tree before she learns that all of the demons, including Inuyasha, are after the Jewel in her possession. To prevent the Jewel from being stolen, Kagome accidentally shoots it with the enchanted arrow, shattering it into thousands of pieces. Naraku, like Inuyasha a half-demon, seeks the pieces of the Jewel in order to become a pure demon. New allies Kagome and Inuyasha join forces with Shippo, a small fox-demon, Miroku, a fallen priest and Sango, the sole surviving demon-hunter, in order to combat Naraku and recover the fragments of the "Jewel of Four Souls."

...Goblins? I really, really hope they won't be translating youkai into goblins in the dub. And I thought the Mazoku/evil ones thing in the Slayers Try fansub was bad...

of course, for every good news, theres a bad news
the thing here is, Viz 'supposedly' toned down Inu Yusha's swearing. but people on the other hand told me that fansub translations exagerated IY's swearing (like 'shut the F up', like that). well, personally, i dont care, becuase Viz BARELY edited IY (in terms of footage)

Yeah I heard it was over the top as well, though not as bad as the shinsen gumi rurouni kenshin fansubs.
Seen the first 8 episodes good stuff inuyasha, lucky americans.

RE: And I thought the Mazoku/evil ones thing in the Slayers Try fansub was bad...
Are you aware that Mazoku translates to "Race of Evil" or (depending on how you'd translate the grammar) "Evil Race?"
Its more accurate than "Monster" and even more accurate than Demon.

Actually no, but monster still sounds better.
Names like Race of Evil don't really sound good in the english language, especially if used practically all the time like in the Slayers imho.

Alas, poor Inuyasha... "Americanized".. but at least now I've got something about which I can say, "Yeah, but I liked it BEFORE it was cool."
And actually, so long as it's on Adult Swim it won't be editted too heavily. I didn't see much of what they did with Cowboy Bebop, but people tell me that for the most part, the brass at CN left it alone. And since the series is much more likely to gain a foothold in the domestic market if it becomes popular on television, as Inuyasha likely will, it almost guarantees that Viz will market the entire series, the movies, soundtracks, and so on and so forth.
So although I hate dubbing and censoring and the other changes that are made when a series airs on TV, I think ultimately other fans and myself will benefit from the economic reprocussions.

I'm thinking it will be edited like Cowboy Bebop, they have the rating up on the Adult Swim page now. It's going to be TV-14V
