Cluster II episode 2
Narrator: Last time on C2, the world all gave up the memory cells of Magnus in order to make the lizard whole again. He came back, but not it seems without flaws. Not even able to teleport without nearly killing himself, the defender of Earth needs time to get his ability back, but it seems the mysterious being is already here, and it is single-mindedly heading for the now strongest being on the planet. Can Magnus keep it together? find out...
Cluster II ep 2: Waiting/The luxury I dont have
Magnus took a step backward, eyes scanning for anything that could be a threat to him. He noticed the changes in technology as he surveyed the road ahead of him but now was not the time to bother with such things. The creature was there, somewhere, in some form. A faceless shape in a sea of no information.
Suddenly, something came to the lizard as his eyes darted every which way. /Wait a second, he should be here by now, it has been more than enough time./ Magnus thought to himself, taking another step back, bumping into the base of the Cluster memorial. Slowly he craned his eyes upwards, his heart racing as he expected to see a giant claw, A huge eyeball, a final blast of energy heading towards him.
Instead, he saw something much worse, he saw nothing.
Magnus was confused and still very much in pain from his efforts before. The ripple in his aura was almost inside him now, and he could do nothing but wait to see what would happen. Nothing happened, and Magnus could feel his pain start to subside. Relaxing, he stopped observing his surroundings for a second, as his slowed down to a normal speed. Suddenly, the ground in front of him cracked and burst open, spraying asphalt into the surrounding area.Magnus instinctively jumped to the side and rolled across the ground, looking back at what had smashed the ground open.
It was not quite what Magnus expected. A giant green tentacle with what seemed to be a plant bulb on the end of it had embedded itself into the face of Magnus's statue, and as it pulled back Magnus could see a large white spike, possibly made from bone, retract into the bulb. He didn't bother to stick around for the rest of the show though, he was on his feet and running like his life depended on it. Because it did.
Magnus didn't make it very far though, as another tentacle burst from the asphalt ground and swung for his head, missing as Magnus ducked and tried to escape, but he felt a large force swing into his back and was suddenly in the air, swatted away by a long green attacker. He could do nothing but brace himself as he flew into the roof a large polished structure and ended up in some kind of office block."Damn" he managed to exclaim through gritted teeth and a battered body. "That was just one hit, Why didn't I remember to tell them about the time delay?" His mind briefly flickered back to his father and how he was not to his full potential just after he was resurrected. Now it had been like father, like son. Magnus tried to get up, pushing himself against the ground. He had no idea how long it would be until his ability returned to him, but at this rate he doubted he would last until they did.
At that moment another of the giant powerhouses smashed its way in through a window while another broke in from the undamaged part of the roof, both headed for the poor lizard, he managed to get away from one but was booted by the other one, spiralling into a fire exit and rolling down the stairs. He was bleeding badly now, and all Magnu could manage to do was crawl down the remaining steps into the lobby of what appeared to be a computer company of some kind. He could feel the tentacles around him, encircling the building, all part of a larger whole somewhere underneath the ground and all he could do about it was lie there and bleed as he closed his eyes and desperately concentrated.
Words scanned across his vision, words that existed inside him, his subconciousness. /I have to defend these people, I have let them wait so long knowing that they could die, knowing that I was there only hope, and then I could not be there for them. They are all going to die because of me/
Magnus's eyes opened to the foyer again, and he saw a tentacle about to smash through the door. His eyes and body began to emit a faint blue glow, that was totally familiar with only a few people now, and all but one was dead.
/That is not going to happen...because I remember. I am the lizard prince, I must continue on/
Magnus stood up, a familiar smirk-smile coming to his lips, his aching body and internal injuries fading as the glow intensified.
"Hey, Tentacle things!" He yelled "Tell your owner that he just got a fight on his hands" With that, he yelled in rage as he hunched over and the blue glow filled out into every crack, sliding through the crevices until it was encompassing the entire building, nothing could get close to Magnus without being blown away or destroyed, tentacles included. Very soon his yelling stopped, and the glow dissapeared for a split second, as a chuckle escaped the lips of the reborn lizard and he reared back, doing the final burst which confirmed that he was whole again, 100- lizard.
Magnus stood in the flat expanse of nothing where a computer company and some surrounding buildings stood, and a singed tentacle was heading right for him. With a grin, he stopped it in midair, before igniting psi-fire and turning its bulb into a flaming lump. As he heard a large rumble below the ground, he cut the tentacle with Gold Spike, teleported next to another one, which had no time to react as hecut through it with ease. This continued until no tentacles were left above ground, and Magnus had done it without breaking a sweat.
"I'm not finished yet, whatever you are" he shouted angrily "You tried to destroy me, and no amount of hiding will stop me GETTING YOU BACK!" He flew up into the air, and with an evil grin, threw his hands up above him. The ground started shaking, first the buildings, then the asphalt, then the ground below that. All was shaking violently as Magnus lifted not just the city, but half the continent into the air, and threw it aside like a rag doll into the sea, sweeping the world in tidal waves. When it was over, Magnus stared down at the ugliest, strangest creature he had ever seen.
It was green, like the tentacles, and it was very large. in regular intervals along its hard shell were green humps, like rounded spikes. The shell encompassed the entire creature except a large brown structure which seemed to be its hard, and just as hard a material as the body. Magnus had no idea what the beings function in life was, but he could tell it wasnt selling icecream and sunshine.
The half-surprised, half-curious look Magnus had during his appraisal of the creature dissapeared, and was replaced with one of anger. "What are you?" he yelled, and was greeted with silence "What the hell do you want here?" The creature did respond to this, one of his humps glowed white and fired a thin, super- fast beam. Magnus only had time to spread his psychic shield and block it, but even then he was pushed up and away by the force, meaning that it was an incredibly strong blast. If he hadn't have been 100-, the blast would've punched straith through his shield, his chest and his life.
Recovering himself, Magnus shot forward and down towards the right of the creature, but teleported to the left of the creature, then back to the right as a new tentacle came up out of the ground and flew at his position. He repeated this as more growths came out, inching ever so slightly to the face of the thing, before leaving only afterimages as he teleported up and to the back of the creature, as he blasted it with a huge light beam. He watched as the beam flew into the hard shell and then just vanished, absorbed into the alien's large expanse. He flung a planet-killer shaped fireball at an approaching tentacle, cutting it in half, then teleported right in front of the face of the creature. "Do you even understand my language? What are you? Why won't you SAY ANYTHING?" Magnus screamed, his mind slowly degrading into something more primal at his apparent inability to fight this thing. Magnus gave a gasp as the creature's face split open and spread like a banana skin. The insides were bright, like the face was more of a power source instead of a brain centre, and that power source was starting to glow bright white. A huge beam spewed from its face and ate up any remnants of land in that sector. Magnus had already teleported to safety and looked on from above at the seemingly single-minded creation.
/What is this thing? he is really getting me fired up now/ Magnus thought to himself, and then turned his thoughts into words by yelling out with an insane edge to his voice "I ask you questions, you can't or don't say anything, then you try to blow me up. My strongest conjurings do nothing to you. I'm getting mad!" he stopped. Inside his body, he could feel something a millenia old opening up, something he inherited from his blood relation, no matter how evil he was.
"DAMN YOU!!! I AM THE LIZARD PRINCE, NOBODY HAS THE RIGHT TO DO THIS TO ME!!" Magnus yelled with ever vocal chord in his throat, before starting to talk in the ancient language of the lizards, a language sounding like snapping bone and clicked growls. Insanely mad, he threw his arms into the air again, this time lifting up what remained of the continent, and the creature with it.
"THE EARTH BE DAMNED, IT'S PEOPLE ARE IN SPACE BY NOW, I WILL DESTROY YOU NO MATTER WHAT THE COST IS! YOU ARE NOTHING!!!" He screamed, dissolving all the dirt and water into particles, before stopping as he noticed something which made him drop his concentration and the creature.
The legs were tiny but numerous, like a millipede. There were roots coming from its base, and they had spread down, down into the core of the planet. The creature was feeding the planet dry. It didn't talk or make an effort to fight because it wasn't programmed to do so. It was a parasite, a virus. Large in number to eat away at the universe. It was death. Magnus had no rational thought left at this development. He leapt down and straight for the creature aiming to jam Gold Spike into the damn thing's head. His attempt failed, and as his spike impacted against hard flesh which felt like steel, the vibrations went up his hand into his body and he lost momentum just enough for two tentacles to stab themselves into both shoulders and throw him away.
He woke up in an evaporated pool of water, probably one of the great oceans of the planet, gone now by Magnus's anger. There was very little left of anything, the roots had sucked most of the planet dry. Magnus looked around him at the bleak landscape before him, and he finally calmed down slightly. There was nothing left for humanity to come back to, as the creature would not leave after he was done, his task was complete, until more life was introduced that is:humans.
Magnus thought it through a lot, it was a hard conclusion to come to, but it was the only one. If the humans could not get their home of millions of years back, they would at least destroy the creature in their wake. It was the only solution to the problem. Magnus burst up into the air, and kept flying. A tentacle sensed him and came after him, but Magnus turned around and melted it into a sludge with his light beam. He kept going until he was in the atmosphere, then out of the atmosphere, then in orbit around the planet. He could see the shuttles that most of the humans had escaped on, there were some stragglers that would sitll be on the planet, but that was their problem. Magnus wanted it done.
He looked down at the planet he had spent his entire created life as a merge trying to understand, observe, and protect. He started thinking of his friends, his lover, his enemies and especially his father. He kept thinking that maybe his dad had won now. He had achieved his goal posthumously. He started to chuckle, then the chuckle turned into a laugh, like the same evil laugh of 1000 years ago, like his father.
Magnus's home, and the home of all of humanity, never stood a chance as the planet killer cut through the core and detonated, reducing Earth into ash in space.
