Love Hina Vs. Fruits basket
Currentely, I am enjoying the wonderful series Fruits basket. But what strikes me is that it looks like an alternate Love Hina that just jumped in from a parallel dimension
So, I just thought I'd start this thread to compare the series and ask which do you think is better:
Love Hina:- The main protagonist, Keitaro is a luckless loser....
- ....who winds up sharing a house with a bunch of girls....
- Countless fan service moments follow (you can just tell this is a guys anime)
- And although the girls in question are eye candy, they not the type to take crap from Keitaro (appeal to female audience established)
- Absurdities follow throughout the entire series
- And in spite of the belly-laughs, there are moments of emotional intensity*coughShinobucough*
Fruits basket:- The main protagonist, Honda, is a loser (but I'm only saying that because her overwhelming kindness sets herself up to be manipulated easily).....
- ....who winds up sharing a house with a bunch of guys
- Absolutely ZERO fan service moments follow (you can just tell this is a girls anime)
- And although the guys in question are eye candy, thats not to say that they are boring (appeal to male audience established)
- Absurdities follow throughout the entire series
- And in spite of the belly-laughs, there are moments of emotional intensity
So which do you think is the better series?
Me? Fruits basket.
(whilst Love Hina is ultra-hilarious, the constant repititon of the: Who will thwack Keitaro this week? situation got on my nerves)

It really does depend on your taste and personal preference.
Of course I'm biased and I'm going to say Love Hina, but there are times where I'll say Furaba... you'd just have to catch me at the right time I suppose.

Well...
I do have to say love hina, Fruits basket is all nice and good but its not really my forte, Give me a space drama or psycological thriller or just plain funny with out alpt of strings attached...
OR as with Trigun, Make 2 seperate personallitys for the same charactor. Though theres alot of bad versions of that type.
Ah well That's it from me on this one.

I've come to like Fruit Basket more since it has more...variety in it's episodes.Love Hina becomes a little repititive after a while. And I still think Naru doesn't deserve Keitaro.Mutsumi-san forever!!!

I think Love Hina is better because it's about a loser boy who reminds of Keiichi from Ah! My Goddess. Only in Keiichi's case he's dating Belldandy... who Keiichi will never get anywhere with. But Keitaro seems to have a magical chance with Naru (after she beats him to death).

Anyone who thinks Love Hina is better than Fruits Basket (Fruba) is crazy. Love Hina tries to constantly use physical comedy in place of a REAL plot and character development. Fruba blends comedy and drama so fluently, its perfection. Fruba's every character, which includes Tohru, Yuki, kyo, Shigure, Hatori, Hatsuharu, Momiji, Kisa, Ayame, Kagura, and even that ******* Akito have their personal problems and is heavily explained throughout the episodes. Tohru then helps them, even Akito to open up a part of themselves that no one else could. This level of drama is VERY rare in the animes nowadays. This anime can have you worried about the characters, feel sorry for them, compassion for them, afraid for them. Don't compare garbage like Love Hina, a type of anime that is done all the time (but at least other shows like this has character development and at least a REASONABLE plot), to a beautiful, detailed-story, dramatic, and very comedic ( and not like Love Hina, seeing some guy get knocked 100 feet in the air or beat up in every way, EVERY EPISODE) anime like Fruits Basket.
I LOVE Tohru!!!!!!!!

I think I'll toss in one note of consideration for anyone else who is reading. Never forget that both shows are of course different genres, therefore of course one show may have more elements of comedy, or story, or drama then the other.
The level of comedy achieved in LH, IMHO, far exceeds that of Furaba. Why? Because LH is more oriented in telling a Romantic Comedy whereas Furaba is more of a Romantic Drama then it is a Comedy. True that Furaba does have Comedy, but it is not a central theme.

WOW!! I remember making that post. Love Hina basically uses physical comedy whereas Fruba uses a more witty, situational comedy. You say that LH's comedy is more amusing? I'll admit, at first glance, LH was funnier than Fruba, but compare how many times you can watch Fruba and still laugh to how many times you can watch LH and laugh. Most people, who aren't just fanservice geeks (I'm a hardcore intelligent one myself), would be tired of this repetitive comedy halfway through the series. Some people can't even stand to watch it again.
Fruba, on the other hand, can be watched multiple times and still be funny to watch. I understand that it's different genres, but what's good is good, and what's bad is bad, and I'd have to classify LH as bad.

Love Hina is funny? I thought it was just stupid! The comedy is just cliched and not funny at all.
And if ur gonna do a "which anime is better" thread, don't do it in a forum that is obviously biased.

Two things:
1. What's wrong with physical comedy?
2. Love Hina is better all the way... and yes I am biased, having only read/seen LH, but that dosen't make my opinion any less valid... or does it...

There's nothing wrong with physical comedy itself. But using it to "replace" the story and characters makes it pretty bad. Hani Yori Dango uses physical comedy in moderation. It also doesn't use it to "hide" any character mishaps or misconceptions.
If you read (manga comes out in Feb) and/or watched Fruba in its entirety, I'd believe you'd quickly change your tune.
