Kinkoku: World War 1
This is an RPG idea i've had for a long time now, but unfortunately every forum i try to get it started in either nobody joins, or nobody wants to read through it all, or nobody is prepared to play it out to its deeper levels. In any case, I found this forum and really hope you guys don't mind reading through this all, because I promise you, if we get a group of dedicated RPers who can really capture the essence of this RPG, it'll be great.

It is said that the Japanese world, in both business and politics, think far
ahead of their worldly counterparts. Whether it be 50 years, 100 years, even
500 years, the Japanese plan ahead. And so little by little, Japan worked its way up in the international order, until eventually it was the ultimate super-power.
When the world environment was nearly destroyed, the Japanese unveiled their first space colony, with space technology not even the Americans knew about. With boundless natural resources, and the safest environment, Japan flourished. With some quickly prepared defenses around the colony and the strongest, if not only, space-force, the Japanese became THE superpower of the world.
Japan 'gave' the old country away to China, 'accidentally' leaving behind some of its technology, to help China defeat the Americans (whom they had been at war with since 2010) and recapture Taiwan. In exchange, the worn but not beaten China controlled international order (or what was left of it), giving Japan an inside man on the rotting carcass that was once Earth.
China had other plans however. In a 'trojan horse' tactic, the Chinese sent over a ship to Kinkoku (Golden Country, the Japanese colony and name of the planet), sending Chinese workers. The Japanese accepted the much needed workers, to balance out the low-wage jobs in the upper-class society; however the Japanese were in for a big surprise. Like the Trojan Horse, out came armed Chinese warriors, literally millions (far surpassing both the Japanese expectation and the population of Kinkoku), and the Japanese colony fell within days.
In return, the Japanese used their entire space-force (what was left of the Japanese people), and literally destroyed the planet Earth (taking with them only a small group of British, Russians, and Koreans), and then killed off the majority of the Chinese rebels, sending the rest into internment camps.
Although Kinkoku was still dominated by the Japanese, peace settled between the minorities that were brought along, and even the Chinese were eventually re-integrated into society. With time, the rest of the planet was re-settled, and for a time, things were good.
Although no new planets had been colonized quite yet (costs were too much), space exploration continued, until eventually the British space-force clashed with a new force... a species whose technology was largely biological, yet overwhelming and powerful nonetheless, the Naga.
Despite language barriers (the biological differences made it impossible for either to speak eachothers language), using computers, eventually the Naga and Human nations came to an understanding.
The humans and naga learned of eachothers evolutionary origins, of their histories, and even of certain aspects of their technology. Peace wasn't going to last though. The British, in an attempt to reclaim their glory of ages ago, allied with the Naga. They tricked the Naga, taking advantage of language loopholes to make it sound as if the Japanese were planning a hostile takeover of Nagan territory (a nearby planet of Kinkoku) in an attempt to wipe out any major opposition. Meanwhile, the Chinese and Korea also allied together, in an attempt to fight the British, who had been trying to spread British religion and philosophy onto the weaker nations. All hell broke loose as the entire galaxy entered a war; though ultimately it came down to the Naga. Nobody knew how much territory they held, nor what their technology was truelly capable of...
Modern warfare involves three main aspects; ground zero combat, aerial warfare, and space warfare.
1. Ground zero combat:
Ground zero combat consists of a combination of your basic infantries, the artilleries, and the special forces. Each nation has their own ?unique? soldiers, but generally these consist of ?upgraded? versions of historic warriors (complete with plasma shields and charged weapons *more detail later), as well as heavy-duty gunman, and ?goliath? battle suits, like a human tank.
Plasma Shields: Almost every ?ground zero? warrior wields a plasma shield. The plasma shield energizes matter to the point of becoming plasma, moving at such a speed that it becomes incredibly hard not only to pierce or intercept it, but even to survive through the surge of energy burning any oncoming object in the first place.
Charged Weapons: One of the greatest benefits of Kinkoku is a new natural resource, a relatively light, crystalline-like material that is easily molded, stronger than most metals, and has a ?natural sharpness? to it. Aside from this new material being powerful alone, it is incredibly conducive to new chemical reactions discovered using unclassified elements of the planet. The charges consist of?
White Charge: A weapon with a white charge emits a radiation beyond the known electromagnetic spectrum that creates a form of plasma so powerful that it can negate the effects of plasma shields with relative ease. The plasma in itself weakens opposing matter by ?melting? it down, and makes a white charged weapon much more powerful.
Black Charge: Black charged weapons, besides absorbing all visible light radiation to create its black color, can also absorb infrared and ultraviolet radiation, ultimately absorbing heat. This allows it to be capable of turning matter into a new unclassified state, where it simply becomes a pure black, icy color, and is rock solid. This ?icing? over a black charged weapon can allow it to pierce through even plasma shields fairly easily, and makes it nearly indestructible when charged.
Keep in mind that black and white charges are known for negating each other?
Red Charge: A weapon with a red charge has the ability to ?control? energy. A red charged weapon is known for having a ?life of its own?, giving itself almost a consciousness. Though initially a red charge would appear to be at a disadvantage to other charges, the skills gained using a red charged weapon far exceed any biological or cybernetic upgrades and the potential of a red charge is still not fully known? It is believed that this 'life' of a red charge comes from the fact that it can reach terraflop speed (its been forever since i studied what it takes to get there, something about really really cold, if somebody could pick me up on this one...). The charge actually becomes self-conceptualizing, and will fight for you.
Green Charge: The final charge is the green charge. Unlike the other three, the green charge weapons were not created by humans, but actually come from an element from the Nagan home world, making them incredibly rare to have or see on Kinkoku (unless you are a nagan soldier). The green charge creates dimensional warps. The full potential or understanding of what this is or how it works is unknown, but from a straightforward perspective it allows things like ?instant transmission? (disappearing and reappearing somewhere else instantaneously), as well as phasing (becoming temporarily ethereal and being unaffected by any physical events). It is believed this works through creating rips in the fabric space-time, however the end destination must be decided before the warp, and there is no real recollection of the events inside the warp. The ethereal factor functions simply by creating a fold in the fabric of spacetime over yourself.
Soldiers: Soldiers are the basic classification of any historic ?upgrade? for any battlefield warriors, such as Samurai, Chinese swordsman (don?t know names, anyone with a knowledge of Chinese history please help me here), Korean swordsman (same applies), British Knights, Chinese Fire Lancers, Korean Hwarangs (archers), etc.
Gunman: Gunman consist of any soldiers who fight in a more ?modern? style, pretty much, they use guns. Whether they themselves are historic, such as an ?upgraded? redcoat, or they are 20th century GI, or even a starcraft like ?space-marine?; all of these apply.
Goliath: Goliaths can be thought of as a mech or battle-suit. They aren?t quite that large, nor filled out. Goliaths are mostly wheeled bipeds with a center cockpit, a mounted rocket launcher and machine gun (one per shoulder), and a melee weapon of some sort. Due to their size, Goliaths are too large to have a plasma shield, but they are still made of a powerful metal that can hold its own in combat, and although their melee weapon cannot be charged, they still can have charged bullets on their machine guns.
Special Forces: Special forces consist mostly of spies. Although they are considered ground zero soldiers, the only special forces soldiers that ever potentially fight in open combat are ninjas (when properly equipped), and the Nagan spies (*more details later). Special forces generally don?t carry plasma shields or weaponry, as they are very visible and very loud, though in the case of ninjas or any other special forces who can become ?combat ready?, they can equip themselves and enter battle.
2. Aerial Warfare:
Aerial warfare consists of jets and mechs.
Jets: Jet warfare consists mostly of the flat scifi-like jets that can avoid radar, usually mounted with missiles or a bomb. Despite not having plasma shields or charged weapons, jets use new technologies to reach inhuman speed and maneuverability, often to the point where cybernetic upgrades are not enough for a pilot, but they even need to ?jack-up? to a jet to control it properly.
Mechs: Like the jets, mechs are very advanced and require cybernetic upgrades to pilot. Mechs are usually ?giant men?, so big that a jet could be compared to the size of a large sword. Mechs are less maneuverable and less efficient than jets generally, but their ability to fight on land, space and in the air, as well as their much stronger armor, and most importantly, the addition of a melee weapon, make them considerably useful in their own right.
3. Space Warfare:
Space warfare consists of mechs (already explained), battleships, and fighters.
Battleship: Battleships are the modern day nukes. Using plasma technology to create a giant ?laser-pointer of doom?, a battleship can be used to annihilate entire planets (or on a smaller scale, other battleships). Despite their incredible power, they are nearly defenseless and incredibly hard to maneuver, as well as very costly to use. Most battleships are used as transport vehicles and are used more for intimidation than actual battle. (Note: You do not play as a ?battleship?, battleships are simply a factor of warfare and you may happen to be on a battleship in more than one occasion).
Fighters: Fighters were initially the answer to solving the battleship problem which was the Japanese ?Thor?s Hammer?. In contrast, fighters are also used to protect battleships. There will almost always be at least a small fleet of fighters per battleship. Like the aerial Jets, fighters are very maneuverable, and the actual builds of a fighter are almost identical to that of a jet.
Nagan warfare vs. Human warfare:
Although the only known nagan warfare consists of the Lyiotan (the Nagan warriors, *more details soon), the Slyovx (sl-yee-oz, the Nagan spy, *more details soon), and what is believed to be the equivalent of a battleship with a small fleet of what is considered the equivalent of a fighter. Noticeable differences are that Nagan use biological upgrades, like ?natural evolution?, instead of cybernetics and metals, replacing metal armors with carapaces (though the Nagan have adapted plasma shields and charged weaponry, even creating the green charge). Even the battleship used to transport nagan troops to British bases looks like a giant, floating monster with hard purple skin, and the fighters didn?t look much different.
Lyiotan: The lyiotan, translated to English roughly meaning ?The way of the Beast?, is the Nagan form of a Samurai or Knight. Traditionally they wore the skin of an unknown reptilian creature, which looks like a light green chain mail almost, with dark green spikes on the shoulders. The pants to this costume were tight black, almost rubbery, with green diamond ?plating? using the same reptilian material as protection. From their necks to their mouths the Lyiotan wear the same rubber material (with a slit for their mouths), and over that would be a helmet that came to their nose, using the actual face of the reptile. It had two spikes, one over each ear, and a long snout (the Lyiotan would leave the teeth on, covering their upper lip and almost making them look as if the helmet were their own head). Originally the Lyiotan would use their own claws in combat. This is where the fighting style of the Lyiotan first started; a style of ?frog-like? movement, where the point was to stay in almost a crouched ?boxing stance?, aiming to scratch the unarmored portions of the legs or face. This inefficient fighting system eventually evolved, when the Lyiotan would wear bone gauntlets, using punctures to avoid the need to pierce. Further evolution in the fighting style came when they would attach the thick, curved fin bones of a shark-like creature on one hand as a way to not only block the gauntlets, but even counterattack with a weapon that could pierce and strike, creating a sort of super-shield/sword combo. Modern day Lyiotans? use almost the exact same system, however the bones and gauntlets are replaced with the crystal material, allowing for charging, they are equipped with plasma shields, and their helmet is only worn if they are considered a general, otherwise they simply wear a band over their eyes of the reptile skin. Modern Lyiotans? also are genetically altered, like their human cybernetic counterparts, to have inhuman speed, strength, reflexes, intelligence, etc.; and their armor (the reptile skins and such) are from genetically altered animals, making them slightly less strong (but also lighter) than their human counterparts armors.
Slyovx: The Slyovx can be compared to the ninja. Their entire suit is that of the tight, black rubber-like material the Lyiotan use for their pants, going all the way up to their neck (though their neck is bare). They then wear a mask covering from one cheek bone to the other made of the reptile skin, with a carved out version of the reptiles? mouth over the Slyovx mouth. They wear a dark purple (almost black) cloth over their heads, covering from the top of their forehead, falling back down almost to their shoulders, held together with a thin strip of the reptiles? skin. It is unknown what the dark purple material is but it is said to preserve body temperature (this headpiece is not worn unless the Slyovx is preparing for combat). If the Slyovx is on a stealth mission, it instead wears a strip of the reptile skin over half its face, in the design similar to that of the phantom of the opera. Like the Ninja, the Slyovx have a slew of weapons at their disposal, though three most common weapons were:
Five-prong claws of a purple-like crystal (they were very fragile and broke easily, but were incredibly sharp). These were perfect for taking out a whole group of Lyiotans?, but if one of them were lucky enough to block your claws, they would most likely shatter?
Sharp-staff made of the same shark-like creatures? fin-bone. The sharp-staff was thinned out and straight. The sharp-staff has three ?grips?, one at the top, one in the middle, and one at the bottom. Generally it would be held from the middle, and would be held horizontally, because the outer side of the staff was sharp, making this a great weapon to take on many opponents as once; though it could also be held from the bottom dual-handed to be used almost like a sword (though this was very ineffective against Lyiotan because it was hard to hold properly and couldn?t get into the weak points of Lyiotan armor, but it was better against other Slyovx).
Sling-shot? well not quite. It?s a device similar to a sling-shot, used to shoot out sharpened reptile teeth. Though this weapon may not seem very powerful, it was probably the most effective way to dead-on hit Lyiotan in all of their weak points. The Sling-shot was rarely lethal, but could easily be the deciding factor in the outcome of a fight.
Modern Slyovx are genetically altered, as are their armor; and most of their weapons now use the crystal material, so they can be charged. Slyovx can carry plasma shields, but usually only do this when combat-ready.
The final element of the Nagan that you probably would want to know? what do they actually look like?! Well, the Nagan look kind of like people, but?
1. The Nagan are generally taller than humans, a short nagan would be about 6 feet tall. 2. Nagan are also generally thinner than humans, as well as having a smaller muscle mass.
3. Nagan also have larger hands and feet than humans (not cartoonishly large, but noticeably), and Nagan nails are actually claws.
4. Nagan facial structures are also slightly different. The nagan have thinner, sharper teeth, and even have fangs. They also have thinner, forked tongues, but most noticeably are their reptile like eyes, that even can glow. They also have pointy, elfin ears.
5. Nagan hair colors are black, gray, white, purple (more like black with a purple tint), green (more like black with a green tint), and blue (more like black with a blue tint).
6. Nagan skin, though not scaly, definitely feels tighter and moister, and has a rougher feel to it.
7. Nagan skin color consists of jet black, different shades of gray (generally a middle of the road gray), green, and even purple (an almost black purple, and this skin color is rarest). Most common is the average gray color, followed by other shades of gray, then black, then green, and finally purple.
