I don't think it'd look weird. A title like Miyazaki's Works would be great.

Or we could allow any discussion of any Ghibli movies... That might be too broad though...

However movies like Grave of the Fireflies were in fact not done by Miyazaki...

I think we should create this. What about all those other animes that go un-noticed like Totoro, Nausicaa, Grave of the Fireflies, and especially Kiki's Delivery Service . As a forum elite member, you have full support from me!

But that's why we already have a forum dedicated to MOVIES! So we don't need to have a forum about 1 artist. If we wanted to do that, why not have a forum about Osamu Tezuka or some other artist. Sure, this guy makes good pieces, but a lot of people don't know about Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, or Grave of the Fireflies. They know about Princess Mononoke!

@Icantpickascreename:

We could have just created one forum called 'anime', and have everyone talk about everything anime related there, but it is more conveniant to section off the forums into topics, to promote relevant, on-topic discussion (and even a greater sense of community within the subforums).
I think there are enough Ghibli/Miyazaki movies that it warrants its own forum.

I can't believe a moderator hasn't noticed this thread though.

Right, but that would mean also, that if we didn't want confusion, we would go to the extremes and create sub-forums. Example: The Bubblegum Crisis Forum would be 2 different forums, the bubblegum crisis ova forum and the bgc 2040 forum. BTW, it's not confusion when the main title reads a certain movie topic. And the real question is why? Why need a shrine to 1 artist, when there are many other experienced artists out there.

thing is, wouldn't it be easier, just to rename the forum to Miyazaki or something?

by the sounds of things, the forum was specifically created to generate conversation about the newly-released-in-America Mononoke Hime. To lower the chances of having to create a forum for Spirited Away (can't remember the Jap title, sorry), they could just rename the title as an all-purpose about Miyazaki forum...

btw, just a little freaked out if I'm not making sense here...

Yeah, because that worked for making Final Fantasy into a Squaresoft forum. All that'll happen is things will loosen and Miyazaki discussion will be allowed in there.

Wait, I'm one of the Mononoke mods aren't I? Hah.

That would be the desired effect anyways. Then it doesn't need to have Miyazaki attached to the forum title, it just is a Miyazaki forum.

yeah, so i guess we'll just start posting thing about other miyazaki movies in the mononoke forum and see what happens.

I know some people are saying that if we make a Miyazaki forum why not make one for all the other artists and studios that make anime? Well Miyazaki mainly does movies...not series, thus there are A LOT more topics. Its either we list all the movies he has made like they do with anime series (if you soo want to treat it that way) or simpler..we could just change the name of the Mononoke forum. So if you want to argue the point of making a forum for each artist..it would make things much more confusing.
