AV Connection '03

Right. Apparently, despite the success of AVC'02, we still don't deserve a separate forum, so I suppose I'll just start informing people through a thread. Sigh.

AV Connection, like last year, is of course a fusion effort of two University clubs, to fill a void South Australia has. Of course, as a fledgling Convention, a lot of research and crawling was required. Manifest was examined and visited by representatives of the planning council, to delve into the art of Convention. Sponsors were hard to come by: but we still managed to finance the convention, and even received several anime that were screened (legally) for the first time in Australia. Although the Cosplay Ball was underprepared, and the MC from the Quiz Night was lumped with the job, (even though he was a GREAT MC at the Quiz Night,) and will if anything, have learned from this error.

Even though it was a struggle, the convention was a complete success, and the profits will go a long way to stage this year's. Of course, they now have more interest in it, and have already obtained high-profile sponsors. It will be bigger and better. Of course, as I'm one handshake away from the planning commitee, probably not the best person to ask about the specifics. For now, everything is still in the planning stage, but the website is currently up with (some) info.

... Let me go find that damn URL.

Here it is. Still in it's infancy, and I believe it to be a temporary site until the University-served one appears.

hey Supanova and comicfest! still don't get it's own forum, and it's one of the biggest conventions in Australia running since 2000 so it seems that you have to have god like status in order to obtain a forum

As far as I know requests have been made by con goers to the head honcho himself.

Huzzah for the AVCon, bigger and better game competitions. This year my team wont be cheated out of the Halo finals.

Well personally I'd like to see an Australian Anime Conventions Forum rather than having it in General Con. This way we can put all the cons into once place for all Aussies to see. Seeing as how alot of people on the boards are from Australia

Also because many of us Aussies will travel to other states for the other cons.

Well as I sit in with the organising commitee, I apparently said I'd try to get a forum set up here for it. Me of course, caring very little, didn't bother. I knew I'd just be wasting my breath. Instead I'll do a dance.

*does a little jig*

Pre-order your tickets and t-shirts today! Oh, and it's worth going just to see the printing error on the staff's shirts. They all look like complete morons.
