The Big O: Past and Future (Comprehensive Thread, Spoilers)

First off this is a serious discussion for those who are big fans of the Big O such as myself. I have no intention of going on about how great it is and I have no intention of defending it from some retard who thinks "biG 0 iz teh suck". There will be spoliers, a lot of spoilers, you have been warned.

Characters
Some characters have evolved a bit, and we have learned a little more about everyone.

Roger: When Big O started all that was revealed was that Roger was a wealthy negotiator, serving as a combination of lawyer, broker, and detective. He of course is the pilot of Big O. We quickly learn that he was once an officer in the Military Police, serving under Major Dastun and that while he is rich, he lives outside the domes where other rich people live and he dislikes the ruling body the corperation known as Paradigm. Most of what we learn of him later comes from visions or hallucinations and is not reliable information. He was born after "The Event" and was implanted with memories of someone else as a child, these memories may belong to an army officer who could pilot the Big O, this officer may or may not have later been a Paradigm City councilman. He walked into the old building that later became his home on a whim and met Norman who was the Big O's caretaker. Roger is still a mystery, what is the true nature of his abilities? Is he an insturment of God? Why did Gordon Rosewater implant memories into him (or did he even do that at all)? What of his relationship with Angel? In his vision she appeared much like his adjutant, coming to retrieve her missing superior (Roger). Finally, what does Roger think of Dorothy's "slips", does he think that Dorothy actually loves her and if she does could he love her back? Furthermore is seems as if Alex Rosewater had an idea as to what Roger was supposed to be doing with Big O, although he will not explain what.

Dorothy: Created to fill the gap of Wainright's lost daughter (although Soldano insisted that she was in fact HIS daughter before he died) Dorothy seems remarkably human at times, showing compassion for the Pero (the boy transformed into a cat), recognizing Roger as "a louse". Even her piano playing is becoming less mechanical under Instro's tutoring. Dorothy seems to communicate on some level with the various Megadeus' that appear. Her link with Dorothy One, Big O's first nemisis (in the anime) is obvious as they were both creations of Wainright. But later she has a reluctant rapport with the Big O archetype and even appears inside the Big O itself. In the latest episode she has a conversation with the mechanical dragon although any response it makes is unintelligable, she told it that nobody could be a part of her. She once told Roger that she loved him (although she was under the control of Beck Gold), seems jealous of Angel, and has questioned Roger about the possible ramifications of an android loving a human (and vice versa), does she truly love Roger, and if she has at one point, has she lost hope in him returning her love? And what of Red Destiny(RD)? Towards the end of episode 13 when RD is sent skywards by Big O's fist we briefly see a control collar similar to those used by Beck to control Dorothy smashed on the ground, was Dorothy RD and if not did Wainright create a duplicate?

Dastun: Dastun is as Dustun does. As of season 2 he knows that Roger is the pilot of the Big O though one is lead to believe that he at least suspected as early as episode 2. He is torn between trying to protect his city and his impotence in the face of the megadeus'. He seems both appreciate and despise Big O, sometimes at once! Then there is his unusual connection to the first foreigner revealled in Paradigm City, just as he watched a French woman "die" in a movie in his childhood, he killed the actresses' daughter in a scene identical to the mother's death in the movie. Dastun seems loyal to justice if not so much the law, some of his actions seem to make him a thorn in the side of Paradigm but he maintains his position nonetheless.

Norman: Not your typical butler. An adept chef, housekeeper, driver, gunman, and mechanic he seems like a multi-talented genius, it's a wonder he even deigns to work as a butler when he seems qualified for so much more. Yet according to Roger's vision/memories Norman was living in the old Bank where Roger made his home for a very long time, caring for Big O until Roger came into his life. Just how much does Norman remember from the times before the Event and what does he think Roger's purpose is? Norman is very guarded and reserved when others probe into his past and motives, something will be revealed soon to be sure.

Angel: An enigma who jumps between identities with ease, her motives are completly convoluted and mysterious. She appears first as a lackey of Paradigm and Alex Rosewater, then a self-employed hunter of memories, and now it is revealled that she is in fact a foreigner although her nationality is in question (as is the nationality of Paradigm City although clues point towards America). When the three Megadeus' attacked Paradigm city Angel released a red balloon, which she later said was a signal to call off the attack, but the signal was ignored. If Angel worked with some foreign force, do they still acknowledge her as a friend? And there is the question of the scars on her back that seem to indicate where angelic wings might have been. She also seems to know Alan Gabriel even though he was only first revealled in episode 14. Angel seems to know a LOT about all the sides and players and yet seems to be in the dark herself.

Schwarzwald: He said the Michael Seebach was dead, now that seems to be a reality. Paradigm City's most ardant (and psychotic) seeker of truth is no more, according to Angel. It was Seebach who discovered the Big O Archetype (which apparantly caused his disfigurement and madness), the Big Duo (which was nearly the doom of Roger and the Big O), and the Leviathan (after which he allegedly died out in the desert). He claims to have been "closest to the truth" even though he was familiar with Alex Rosewater (who seems to have all the answers). At once he seems like a would be destroyer and savior, he rains death down on Paradigm City to free the minds of its people. Teach them fear so they will remember and no longer stagnate. Is Schwarzwald dead? And if he is, has the truth died with him? There is hope that what he knew still exists, the manuscript that Roger was hired to obtain was thought burnt, yet it seems that Seebach was working on it when the foreign megadeus' attacked.

Alex Rosewater: The man with the plan and the answers. Not only did he seem to have a firm grasp of the reality of Paradigm's situation from the start he now has the memories of the android councilman which he claims are "memories of the future". He was able to predict the fall of the satellite (although he claimed that he could not fathom it's function) and has Big Duo, the three foreign Megadeus', and possibly the Big O archetype in his posession. He claims that another Big is in his possession (most likely built from parts hidden inside the foreign Megadeus'). He is apparantly related to Gordon Rosewater who implanted memories from the time before the Event into children, did he have any say in that? He said that he was born with the requirements to use a Megadeus and bestowed a strange title on Roger, one he will grant himself when his Big is completed.

Other Questions...

Who is Alan Gabriel?

What do the tomatoes mean?

Is there anything more to Beck Gold than meets they eye (given his appearance in Roger's vision) or is he destined to be comic relief?

And of course what the heck happened during the event?
