Series I liked that fit the 6 and under condition are

Rurouni Kenshin OVAS (Samurai X) (4 eps)
Read Or Die (3 eps)
Macross Plus (4 eps)
Oh My Goddess (5 eps)

FLCL didn't do much for me shrugs

FLCL, definitely the best thing I've seen out of GAINAX

FLCL, definitely the first thing on you-don't-need-to-mention list.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Giant Robo. Curse you, Manga Entertainment, for letting it go out of print! I just saw this for the first time and it was incredible. A must see for all fans of the giant robots of yesteryear like Mazinger Z. Add it to the list immediately:

Giant Robo: 7 episodes.

In the six episodes or less category I would have to include Shamanic Princess and the second Fushigi Yuugi OVA.

Dragon-Half! Definetly one of the best animes ever, still think it should have its own forum (even though only 2 eps were ever made...)!
