DVD player suddenly not playing dialogue

As the title says, my DVD player has suddenly stopped playing the dialogue tracks in movies. I'm getting the background music and sound effects, but not the actors dialogue. I've tried it through Power DVD and windows media player and have tried turning off the region free software with the same result. I don't really know much about CD & DVD players so I'm not even sure where to begin troubleshooting beyond updating the driver and checking the device status through windows device manager. Is somebody able to point me in the right direction or provide any advice?

Disregard, I've fixed it now. I don't know how it happened, but it seems it was caused by my uninstalling kazaa lite. I reinstalled it and I've got Slayers try running now with full audio.

I spoke too soon. The audio is working with anime DVD's, but not ordinary DVD's. I know Madman does not use macrovision protection for their discs, so it makes me wonder if it might be related to some copy protection. I've got Star Trek 6 playing and the only audio tracks that will play is the commentary, but even that is fading in and out. Thoughts?

It sounds like the DVDs you're having trouble with have multiple audio tracks, does changing them make any difference at all?

P.S. I didn't know they made BGM tracks seperate from voice tracks.

None of the audio tracks will play other than directors commentary if available. Also I'm beginning to wonder if its a problem with my DVD drive or with the .vob files as a bunch of movies I saved to my hard drive are experiencing the same problem. Only the anime ones are working properly. Maybe my computers trying to tell me to only watch anime *shrugs*

Yeah I might have to do that. I was just hoping somebody here might have been able to help so I wouldn't have to go to the trouble of registering with another forum.
