Macross Zero

Well quite alot of stuff about Macross Zero has been revealed lately

I got this stuff of Macross World's forums

1. Macross Zero is a prequel. It takes place about 1-2 years before the original series. If all of you remember the episode about Roy and Claudia's blooming relationship, (back during the VF-X1 development) it occurs about that time.

2. The story is an undisclosed story about the VF development. Considering the nature of the SWA-X1 and the VF-0, this story on record, "Never happened" as in the folks at the UN military will deny it happened like Roswell. I will say that the story was deemed "classified" in the timeline.

3. The island that the story will take place in will be in the South Pacific. No, not South Ataria, the South Pacific. The look of the natives is very close to modern day people in that region of the world. The story will have a "mythological" feel to it. As to what that means, I don't know but give the scenes that I did see, it will be a "spiritual" experience.

4. The music will NOT be done by Yoko Kanno. Although Kawamori doesn't rule out that he will not use Kanno again, he did note that he will not be using her to compose the music. The music will be in the style of music from the South Pacific. There will be vocals also related to that region as well. The composer has yet to be named.

5. Mikimoto was not used for character designs because Kawamori wanted a different look to the characters. He noted that whenever he created a new Macross, he wanted a different look each time. Something different with each series. He wanted to vary the look and feel for each series in otherwords.

6. Newtype Japan will be carrying an article about Macross Zero very soon. I think it was next month's issue but any case, look for that issue of Newtype. Also, Newtype USA will also carry that article as soon as the contract is finalized and publication of the magazine begins.

7. What the people at the AX Macross panel saw was the production work of the CG sequences and not the final versions. The cel animation for the characters was nothing spectacular but very good. The F-14 pulled some pretty high G moves apparntly

8. For an example of what the 2D/3D feel will be like, we were encouraged to go watch Arjuna (Earth Maiden Arjuna). Kawamori used the same CG group for M0 as he did for Arjuna.

And here's a Newtype spread to enjoy

Yep. I was gonna post something, but was too lazy. Good job.

Also on Yoko Kanno, Mr. K (can't spell) didn't want this to be too much like Macross Plus, thus, ditched her.

They also have pics of new toys at macross world.

New OVA.

I think you're not the only one that wants to see it. Airplanes kick ass. Mecha kick ass. Airplane mecha kicks a lot of ass.

Great to hear some new information about Macross 0. I'm just wondering if they'd stick to their schedueled time of release. That and wondering who's going to fansub it soon.

Anyone know how many episodes per DVD?? I hope we get our money's worth.... I don't want to be left hanging with only 1 episode in a DVD.

Macross Zero is OVA format release. So one ep is realeased at a time, just like with Macross plus.

I was excited about seeing Yukikaze (since it's being called macross Plus on steriods) but hey macross zero is the real deal.

Yeah, but the DVD's weren' 1 episode each... which is what I'm on about... wonder how many eps in a DVD... 2 or 3??

That's what I find more important when you want to collect it.

Macross Zero will be 5 eps (at this stage) and while the japanese will have to buy 5 dvds, we should get this on 2 dvds.
