Question Earthian...

I've been reading up on Earthian, and it sounds really interesting,but... will my parents freak out if I get the DVD? I mean I know there's shounen-ai and stuff, but is there anything...worthy of my parents freaking? (Actually,I think my sister would freak out more...)

Well hon, it really depends on what your parents freak out over.

There is one short lil' love scene, nothing really graphic though.

Earthin is a really lovely anime, not dirty or nothing, so I'd say go ahead and buy it. ^_^

Earthian was aired uncut and in subtitles on International channel just recently.

Sorry but I hated it. Well, hate is such a strong word. I'm fairly open minded, so its hard for me to absolutely loathe something unless its in a totally different genre that I generally dislike. So lets just say I didn't like Earthian.

The story just didn't keep me interested. I watched Episode 1 and 2. By episode 3 I was kinda flipping back and forth between channels, and despite the promise of a conflict between Messiah and Chiyaha or whatever his name is, I never even bothered to watch the 4th.

Yeah, Earthian was one of those manga inspired animes--exposition be damned. Either you've read the manga or you're outta luck.

Now, I'm not bashing all manga inspired animes (that's how most animes get their start anyway), it's just that some appear to be instant advertisements to the current series. Written for the fans--to be bought by everyone else.

Similar unfullfiling-yet-intriguing one shots:

Angel Sanctuary-(confusing, controversial, and ends at a cliff-hanger)

Fight!! Spirit of the Sword-three words: WTF? All explanations came from a)the info on the back of the box, b) the interview with the voice actors that came with the DVD--and that's about it. I know there is a manga, but if there is more to the story...I can't find it. (I've searched)

Gestalt

Pilot Candidate (Megami Kouhosei, or Candidate for Goddess)-yeah, the first DVD left me a bit confused, and the spoilers say I'll be greatly disappointed at the end of the series.

Earthian the anime was good, but it could have been so much better. As for the answer to your question, your parents might be a little squicked by the short, blink and you'll miss it love scene (but just for the fact that Chihaya is so ultra-femme, if they weren't paying much attention you could say he's a girl. . . actually that's what my mom assumed and I didn't correct her).

I haven't seen Earthian but I saw the trailers and assumed the Chihaya was a female... infact I was wondering if ppl had made amistake on her/his sex when they said Chihaya was a he... i was rather confused...

I mean how can she be a he... Jeez... They sure make good looking guys

*I just didn't say that*
