CCS and CC editing question.

OK I have never watched this show, but I looked at www.rightstuf.com and there are 2 releases Card Captor Sakura (unedited - sub only) and Card Captors (edited - dub only). So I was wondering why didn't they do a dub version for the unedited version?

I think they do for Dragon Ball Z, you can get a dub/sub with no editing and a dub with editing (I dont think this ones subed). So why didn't they do something like that for CCS? Just thought it was kinda weird.

Simply put: Because they CAN'T!!!

There are other posts on this board that goes quite deep into this, but the fact remains that the dubbed soundtracks could not be altered to fit the unedited versions. DBZ could do that because essentially the only scenes edited are the ultra-violent scenes that don't make much of an impact to the storyline when removed. All they had to do for the Uncut dubbed version of DBZ, is add a few lines, screams, and curse words. To make an unedited dub version of Cardcaptor Sakuka, the dub makers would have to start from the beginning and redo literally EVERYTHING. Because with CC, the editors not only cut scenes, but they cut storylines as well. And then, to make a 28 min show after cutting 15 mins of footage, they would use additional cut footage for filler. As most of the people here say, CC and CCS are two different shows. CCS is the original, and CC is the cut, paste and diluted version.

So why not do an alternate dub track?

Such things cost money. They'd have to re-record almost the entire thing, and at 70 episodes and two movies, it's simply not worth it.

Because there is already a subbed version, the extra cost of making a dubbing version wouldn't be practical. There would also be mutterings of unrest about who did the voices, which is certainly the case with Kero-chan's voice actor.

you dont want the dubbed version. trust us.

and dbz has an unedited dub because what Funi dubbed first before they edited (so an uncut dub is avaialble), Nelvana edited first before dubbed.

If you really really really want to find out... buy both of them. Otherwise I'm going to have to say listen to Fatal and the rest of us... dont' buy the dubbed version.

Im not buying it I was just curious. I like to research badly converted anime, originly shows like DBZ and Sailor Moon were very poor, however the componys listend to anime fans and released much better versions with are much closer to the original (with plot character, relations and language used). I was just wondering why they hadn't done it with CCS.

can't really say that. Pioneer listened and released them subbed (which is what most fans want anyway), even though they don't have the rights for a dub due to Nelvana.
