Ghost In The Shell

Well we had a request thread for this that disappeared, probably because of the thread starter and what he did.

Anyway I'll start again

Ghost In The Shell deserves a forum because most anime fans know of it, even casual anime fans would know about it (I know quite a few people who have seen GITS and yet don't follow anime in my school).

Ghost In the Shell Movie and manga series are quite well known.

As well as these two already known elements, their is a Ghost in The Shell 2 manga on the way (with the possibility of a movie/ova/series in the future).

And also theirs is going to be a tv series.

Not only is it going to have the help of Masamune Shirow (The creator of GITS), it's also going to be animated by Production I.G (End Of Eva, FLCL, Blood), have a soundtrack composed by Yoko Kanno (Escaflowne, Cowboy Bebop, Macross Plus, it's licensed by Bandai Entertainment (Cowboy Bebop, Gundam) and it's already confirmed for Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block (Cowboy Bebop, Yu Yu Hakusho).

Not only that but according to this article

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
from anime tourist
A Japanese Producer working with Raijin Comics claims that there will be a new anime shown simultaniously both here and in Japan after September. The series will be shown here on Cartoon Network. Details about this new show will be revealed at Nan Desu Kan where he is a guest. (He is also working on the Mahoromatic game for Gainax, but it will be for Japanese release only).

This series was later revealed to be the new Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex by a high level Cartoon Network executive. As he puts it, "I've seen this show and it is awesome." We know from comments made in the Bandai panel that this series will be broadcast in October.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's going to be shown in Japan and America roughly at the same time (October).

Let's look at other shows that have shown on CN. Cowboy Bebop, Big O, Outlaw Star, Gundam Wing. All them have forums and a following.

Other shows that will air on later on AS are Inuyasha, Big O 2, Chars Counter Attack Movie (Gundam). All these have forums already.

Not only will it have an already big following, Adult Swim airtime, it will also get the attention of the people who follow fansubs since it's airing in Japan and America at the same time.

Anyone else up for a Ghost In The Shell Forum?

You can only talk about so much about one movie.

Plus there isn't much to say about a series which hasn't even come out yet (and to be honest I'm not convinced about the truth involved in that article you referenced).

Furthermore, considering that the movie was huge, this TV series has a tough act to follow. Whether or not it would be successful is another matter entirely.

I really would support this. GitS: Stand Alone Complex looks unbelievably amazing from what I've seen from the trailer. I'm sure there's going to be plenty to talk about once it comes out as well as discussion about the movie.

I three will also support this forum. GitS: Stand Alone Complex looks fantastic and I can't wait for it's US release. Besides it also opens up a place to discuss Shirow's other works ^_^

What better time to have a GitS forum now that it's being aired in Japan

First episode was great.

I think it'd be nice, but we should wait until it releases in the US and the entire series is finished in all it completeness before we start requesting a forum so soon. I agree somewhat with Spike 558, but the series is suppose to be different from the movie so we'll just have to wait and see.

Peace. V

Okay I seen the first four eps through fansubs.
All I can say is: We need a GiTS forum. NOW.

Altough I think the movie was not that special I think the manga is a lot more interesting so it's got my vote.
