There are a few good series that I like:

Blue Sub 6
Cowboy Bebop
Tenchi (The Ultimate Edition rocks if you can afford it)
Samurai X
Trigun
macross Plus
Escaflowne
Gundam Wing (Its unedited)

Ummm.........Ura, EVANGELION! Lol. You didn't put Eva as one of the good Anime's for DVD's. I sure hope you just forgot! j/k
They only have the first 4 episodes out right now on a DVD. The next 4 are coming out tomorrow! YAY! Nov. 21st. Head to Amazon to grab a copy of them. They're dang cool.

Nope, I left it out. The second DVD will be the real test, I hear good things but i'll happily recommend it if all of the little problems such as overlays have been fixed. Mine is in the mail from Suncoast

Have you seen Iria: the Animation yet? It's very good, nearly 3 hours long, 1 dvd, for around $23.99 to $30.00 depending on where you shop. The storys excellent too,
"She a Bounty hunter with a score to Settle..."

You can't go wrong by getting it.

i'll do this the same way Ura did. the titles that i will list will not only be great anime but will also be anime that will be best experienced on DVD in terms of sound,picure,extras,and all of that stuff.these are anime with superb animation,sound,direction,diolauge,and design.

You really want a good anime movie then I strongly recommend you to go and see Spriggan. If you like anime of the sci-fi action genre then this is what you're looking for.

Spriggan was an awesome movie.it had some of the best fight scenes i have ever seen in a movie,period.the animation and soundtrack was also excellent.

i have the fansub,but i can't wait till ADV releases it in theaters and on DVD.I'll be the first one to buy it.
