Unhappy Lost 160GB of data!

A few hours ago there was a thunderstorm, so decided to switch off all my pcs which are already protected by APC UPS.

Later turn the pcs back on and my file server greets me with corrupted OS message! So decide to format and reinstall but get WinXP unable to format or access disk - could be damaged message!

Gonna have to spend a few days taking apart the file server to test each hard drive using the diagnostic tools

4x 80GB WD 800JB
2x 200GB WD 2000JB

darn it

That's still more than every fansub-filled DVD I have in my possession.

Hope things turn out all right, and I don't know what kinds of data recovery tools you have, but I found GetDataBack (http://www.runtime.org/) to be very easy to use, and it has a good recovery rate even after HD reformatting.

If you tried to find me a few hours after this had happened, you would find me in a shadowy corner rocking the feutal position!

Hope everything works out..

You really have terrible luck with HDDs.
Good luck with the recovery process.

i think the raid array broke or file corruption only as i just finished checking with WD Diagnostic tools and all drives are fine! Just lost data to 2x 80GB Raid0 array and 9.5GB of data off my 200GB WD 2000JB from file corruption and scandisk repair
