Fist of the North Star, live action movie...

A couple days ago I was up late watching TV when I came across the opening credits to some movie. Much to my surprise, the title read "Fist of the North Star". I thought, could this be the anime? on regular cable?! Turned out that it was an American live action adaptation of the anime.

Suffice to say it sucked, but it was still interesting to see a live action adaptation of a well known anime classic. Have any of you seen this live action movie, or any other similar adaptations of animes?

OMG! I'm glad I missed that, the anime sucked!
I heard in Japan they made a live action Sailor moon, and one of the scouts (forgot which one) was in a wheelchair.

yeah, a friend of mine rented it once and it really was horrible. the anime version was kinda funny (seeing enemies exploding by only one punch and hearing Ray say to Ken:'I like your stile, allthough it is kinda slopy'), but this just was pure evil!

I've seen it. I wish I hadn't, because I can imagine many of the people who have never seen anime one day finding out the movie was based off one and then turing their noses up. It is a turn-off, wrapped into one overacted and melodramatic package.

That was made in the US as a potential adaptation of Sailor Moon had Saban gotten a hold of it. Look around the SM forum, there've been at least three threads about it.

Fist of the North Star came on Sci-Fi a while back and I watched it then. I've stopped getting mad about horrible live action movies based on anime and now I just find them good for some laughs.

.... I saw it... and it was ....bad.

I would like to see a CG based adaptation of Fist of the North Star though .... computer graphics could give the characters the confincing effects to make the martial arts style seem believable... and you would not be limited to the actors and actresses available.

Lightbulb 2-3 that i can think of....

The infamous "Street Fighter" movie.....
(It broke my heart for this to be Raoul Julia's last movie)

"Guyver" was actually pretty good. So good that they made a sequel.... that Sucked the shine off of the sun.

"Iria" was an exception. It was made in Japan and stuck pretty close to the Anime. As a movie and adaptation it was ok. I hope they make another one.
