Shoujo vs. that other one

Which do you like better, Shoujo or guys anime(forgot the term.) I personally like Shoujo better generally. Of course it depends on the anime but I'd watch Shoujo before guys if given a choice between the two and not knowing much about either.

I like the drama in Shoujo better than the action in most guys animes. I am a guy though. I just prefer Fushigi Yuugi over, say Gundam. I love Gundam but nothing can make my heart pump faster than seeing Yui slam Miaka's head into the concrete. Or Kodomo No Omocha. But still like I said, I love the realism and harshness of Gundam or the drama of KOR, but I generally prefer Shoujo.

And before you say anything, I know this is a pretty stupid thread concept because it's hard t generalize like this, but I'm bored since the cable is off.

The other genre is called shounen.

I guess it simply depends on the genres you prefer. As for me, I'm a die-hard shoujo fan. I love drama, romance, comedy and all the stuff which can mainly be found in shoujo mangas/animes. And I like shoujo mangas as they have a much deeper character development than shounen mangas have. I also like shounen animes/mangas of which I've a great number in my collection. Still, I have always preferred shoujo and I always will for the point of character development and story deepness. Not that shounen doesn't have this but in shoujo it's better told.

I agree with CAT. Both genres have their good ones and bad ones.... my collection is a bit more on the shoujo side though.

well shounen is really action and love stuff guys would like Shoujo is anime for girls

I love shoujo anime the only shounen i like is love hina

I like both shoujo and shounen anime/manga, but my personal collection is more on the shoujo side.

The series that got me hooked on anime was Slayers. The next series I watched was Fushigi Yuugi.

Current favorites:
- Fushigi Yuugi
- Flame of Recca
- Rurouni Kenshin
- Nurse Angel Ririka
- Slayers
- Escaflowne

As you can see, it's split fifty-fifty with me. I have to agree with those who posted before me in saying that both have their good and bad qualities. ^_^

Technically the only difference between shoujo and shounen is who they were marketed for. There are other generalizations, but it's really hard to get anything specific.

Fushigi Yuugi is most definitely shoujo! It was written by Yuu Watase and was released in Shoujo Comix (if I remember correctly).

Oh, i must add in, Fushigi Yugi is DEFINITELY shoujo! Look at all the good looking bishounen in there.

Most anime I like is shoujo--Fushigi Yuugi, Sailor Moon, Vampire Princess Miyu (although that's horror also. It's got its shoujo elements.) I like some non shoujo ones too, like Evangelion. Generally I prefer drama to action though, so you gotta put me on the shoujo side.

I generally like shoujo better, and almost all of my favorites fall into that category (Fushigi Yuugi, KareKano, Marmalade Boy, Hana Yori Dango). I guess I just like the romance type stuff (and the 'beautiful' guys are a plus too

).

However, I also tend to like the well drawn ones (and that can fall into either category) and at times I just need some action or the humor that often if found in Shounen. And now that I look, the majority of my anime is shounen.

so....I'll take whatever I guess.
